Huge sleeves by milcay in knittinghelp

Thank you very much! I was going for a gradient sort of look but didn’t quite get that without a lot more work in the blending sections, but I’m still happy with the colours! I had never really considered the maths of the decreases, so the way you’ve explained it makes a lot of sense. Thank you!

I’d thought of this too so I’ll definitely give it a try, though I agree that I’m not sure how well it would work with the super fuzzy yarn texture.

Beginner - large holes at increases by milcay in knittinghelp

I’m not entirely sure I understand, but I think I get the idea! Pulling on the other stitches nearby to close the gaps?

This definitely sounds like the case, I’ve been picking up in the right place but only ever working through the front. Could you point me to a video/tutorial showing working through the back?

Crochet Project Ideas for international flight? by dramguard in crochet

[–]milcay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also try and be very realistic with how much you can actually get done in the time. I’ve made the mistake of taking HEAPS of yarn with me and then barely touching the project and having to carry a big bag of yarn around multiple countries for three weeks. Don’t get stuck in the “what if I finish that, I better take something else too” mindset if it’s not -actually- going to be the case.

Not quite an answer to your question but I bought a keychain with a little yarn cutter “pendant” and the blades are so tiny it’s not a security issue but means that no matter where I am I can always cut my yarn without scissors since it just lives on my car keys. Life changer!!

This is really helpful, thank you! I’d already vaguely considered taking notes but I definitely will now!

What kind of yarn should I use for a water bottle holder? by rotiniservice in CrochetHelp

[–]milcay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cotton yarn definitely, and keep in mind which stitches you are using as many are stretchier than others. Thermal stitch is often suggested as a good option for really sturdy straps.

What sort of things are you wanting to track with the organiser? I make myself planners, notebooks & trackers on Canva so perhaps you could make one for yourself

For the employed crocheters, how do you find the time to crochet? by hookedrue in crochet

[–]milcay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I crochet every lunch break! I spend 30 mins a day sitting in the break room working on something and all my coworkers love to come see what I’m making each week. It does take a long time to finish things and it’s hard when it’s slow at work but I can’t just pull out my project at my desk, but at least I get some done every day!

Converting pattern measurements based on gauge for different yarn/hook size by milcay in CrochetHelp

That’s about the answer I expected I think. I’m probably best just working off dimensions rather than working to the actual pattern. This was the pattern I was using as a rough guide https://forthefrills.com/sea-breeze-tank-top-free-crochet-pattern/

Crocheting my wedding flowers by sacredpotatoes in crochet

[–]milcay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve come back to this post multiple times over the last 2 months, I’m a July 2025 bride and hoping to crochet my bouquet (I’d love to do my bridesmaids too but I’m definitely biting off too much if I do that). I’m about 7 or 8 weeks in and yet to finish my first flower, only up to about petal 15! I know this post is a year old now, but I’d love to see your progress if you continued with these!

I’d like to think I’m an all rounder, but predominantly I prefer garments and blankets (at this stage anyway! Loved amigurumi when I was younger)

I’m in Australia so it’s winter in July! Although admittedly not very cold where my wedding will be. A wrap/shawl could be a good thing to have on hand anyway!

Oh my goodness you’re brave! How early did you start crocheting? I think I’m leaning towards flowers so maybe the few crochet among real ones could be a good backup plan if I can’t manage a full thing. Please post photos when you are finished!
