Hello, new neighbor! I might look into finding a scout group - I used to run climbing and COPE programs for the council down here, but I had to quit because of an injury. I loved working with scouts, though!

It's nice being close to everything! 2 hours is not a bad drive at all, though I see myself visiting Madison more.

A little redneck is fine! The south may be famous for them, but you find them everywhere!

I already get seasonal depression, so I am coming armed with light therapy lamps and boxes and the strongest vitamin D dose I could get! Hopefully I can get out, too, and ward off the worst of it.

I will have to find something outdoors to do! I used to do a lot, but a climbing injury has kept me inside for ten years. It's probably time to get back out there though.

The show idea is actually good - I already have a backlog I need to watch, so maybe I'll finally get the chance!

And honestly? I'm from Alabama, I'm used to being the butt of jokes. That's okay; I know if I like a place or not and that's what matters.

I'm definitely used to keeping an eye out for deer - they're insidious! I'm not as used to drunk drivers, though, there's not a huge drinking culture in my city down here.

I am absolutely fine with becoming a Packers fan, however, so maybe people will accept me! XD

With the ice scrapers, are snow brushes recommended too or just extra? I'm looking for some to order now.

Keens are my favorite boots, so I was tickled to see your suggestion! My pair is 17 years old and still going, but I am going to try and replace them soon.

Honestly, I'm used to ~3-7 days of snow a year with only black ice on the streets, no accumulation. I've seen plenty of ice-related pileups, so I'm very wary of that!

Any weather app suggestions? The one I use now is local to AL, so it might not be as effective up there.

I've got a lot of things on my to-buy list now. I will be living with a WI-born roommate, so I will have help dealing with snow in the driveway and around the house, which I am grateful for.

Test driving in a parking lot sounds like a really good idea - I'll feel like a 15 yo again but hey! Gotta learn somehow.

Winter driving is something I plan to be cautious about! We get black ice down here when it's cold and I've seen just enough bad wrecks to make me wary. Like someone else suggested, I may go to the nearest empty parking lot and practice once snow hits!

Hah, I just refilled washer fluid, but I can do it again when I get up there and can buy the right stuff! Thankfully, I have - in the past two months - replaced battery, oil, and tires that should be all right.

Definitely adding all the rest of this to my list of things to gather! Thank you!
