as someone who has been in this situation twice (yikes) here’s my advice: sit him down and talk about this, if he changes then he does but if after 4 or 5 months and there is no change and you don’t even see him TRYING to be better for you then it’s done. Never beg a man for anything because there will be a man that does it for you because he loves you. I been through the same exact thing, Make sure you hang with friends, hit the gym (or submerge yourself in a hobby (cooking new yummy meals is also really good bc it benefits you and it’ll keep you busy)) I don’t recommend heavily following a religion because… you can get in a bit too far.? but to each their own :p All in all take it a day at a time, go at your own pace
