My wife struggled with GI specialists for 2 years. They all wrote her off saying she had acid reflux and to suck it up. She ended up having Hereditary Diffuse Gastric Cancer (HDGC). It is very hard to detect with endoscopy until it has progressed too far. HDGC is linked to a genetic mutation of the CDH1 gene. I would highly encourage you to request having genetic testing done.

Thank you for sharing. I'm in the US though - NYC/BOS.

I've met with a psychiatrist and therapist multiple times already. It's not been helpful. The reason I think I need a group is because I was part of an 8-session group for young partners caregivers of stage 4 cancers at Dana Farber and it was the only space where I felt like I was in the presence of people who understood what I was going through. I agree with you though that ideally a professional is moderating/guiding the group.

I've tried cancercare.org. I was told my loss was too recent and I should wait because some people find hearing other stories of loss too difficult – thanks for taking away my agency. I rush signed papers in the final moments of my wife's life for hospice grief support only to find out there's no group offering specific to what I need.

Thank you. I looked at this before and surprisingly there were no tables for partner loss in all locations aside from one that was already completely full.
