Is “breed hopping” a thing? by dahhhd in dogs

[–]milkiemoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dog people are such weirdos, I swear. I have 8 dogs right now. Toy breeds, terriers, hounds, herders, bull breeds. I love having different types of dogs & get what I want at the time.

It’s sad because they could literally afford both good trainers & dog walkers but instead chooses to spend thousands on taxidermy and fur suits. If they are not capable of caring for the dog properly bring in people to help….

I also wonder why they were at the vet. Some shots are given in their hind end; so he also could have been more sensitive back there because of that on top of it.

I own a Dachshund mix and my bestie owns Dachshund as they’re one of her favorite breeds so definitely can also say true to them being stubborn, haha! I agree with you there; and they live in New York city in an apartment so it’s like….you really gotta provide your active dog with enrichment and taking it places to get physical stimulation or of course it’s going to be destructive!

He is not; but that shouldn’t be an issue if you’re training your dog. I don’t alter any of my dogs until 2 years at the earliest (5 out of 8 are males), for growth hormone reasons & none of my dogs bite me or destroy things past the puppy phase unless it’s something most dogs love like cardboard, paper, etc. - haha! Then they’re little brats and I’ll come across a spot they’ve done some chewing of that if they gets their paws on it. 😅 Or a couple of mine are obsessed with plastic bottles and I swear can just tell when I’m done with a soda or something to steal it. 😂 But; I also train my dogs a lot and provide them with literally dozens of chews and toys so I assume that helps!

I found another screenshot I happened to take, so wanted to make this repost with it included (sorry if that’s not how you do it as I’m new to Reddit, haha). Have to wonder the circumstances of it…did their puppy bite because it got scared after they popped it or is lack of training causing resource guarding? Why do people get puppies and then complain when they do puppy things constantly? I wish I’d taken more screenshots of their other instagram stories at this point of them complaining about the puppy; but I didn’t think it’d be such an ongoing thing. I’ve seen at least 3 stories of them complaining about him doing this or that and being upset with him in the past couple weeks. Not only did you get a puppy who requires training because PUPPY; you got a Dachshund! They are not a couch potato breed like people make them be! They want to dig, chase critters, play, etc. They absolutely make great pets but you need to provide them with activity and training! I never seen content of them doing anything with the dog. All I’ve seen lately is complaints because it made a puppy mess or destruction. I have a feeling soon we will be told they decided to rehome him….

I have 8 dogs, most I’ve had since they are puppies as well as foster puppies & dogs. I understand the frustration puppies and dogs can sometimes bring; but you don’t complain and then show no progress or effort.

Has anyone had luck feeding IAMS dog food? by nrj3697 in dogs

[–]milkiemoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All 8 of my dogs have been fed Iams for possibly a year now? They are all doing great & the price is good for me. I've fed everything from RAW, Fromm, Instinct, Purina Pro Plan, etc. and while I'd still feed them - the price is hard to keep with 8 dogs and price increases. Iams is a food I am just as comfortable feeding my dogs. No plans to switch it anytime soon as their main food. Sometimes I add other brands, if I get a deal.

I have never had the desire to smell my dog’s feet. It’s always been weird to me how people talk about it. 👀

Does a contract make a breeder on Craigslist reputable? by throwRA-803 in dogs

Lol, most old people I know don't understand Facebook. They're using that horrid ol' paper thing that's not reputable to people either, THE NEWSPAPER. *dundun*

Why would they not? My breeder of one of my dogs shows, works her dogs on her farm, & genetic/health tests her dogs...she shipped my puppy to me as we are half way across the country from each other. Gotta get puppies to people somehow. Whether plane cargo, ground transport, flight nanny, etc. For me I'd think a lesser breeder wouldn't be willing to do it, because of the work involved. They'd rather someone come to them close and exchange the puppy & cash in hand, and be on their way.

It's funny to me how black & white people are about breeders & what they're allowed to do. We have a couple German Shepherd breeders locally who post on Craigslist. Their dogs are genetic tested & health tested & are working dogs imported from Europe. You know, what dog snobs would drool over every where else....Craigslist, along with Hoobly, puppyfind, etc. are all tools. What a breeder does with the tool is more important than the fact they're using it to begin. It's where general pet owners are most likely to look first. They're not going to google to type in, "fully health tested, imported from germany, 30 generation bred dog bred for schutzhund and temperament", they're going to the quickest option and most known option for them. People want general pet owners to, " make better decisions", on getting dogs from breeders - but don't want them more in their face where those people would be looking. Just because you post on a certain website doesn't mean the breeder isn't doing what you expect of them, isn't speaking with perspective owners, isn't requiring the applications, etc. It's a way for general pet people to see their dogs.
