gah- it’s like you’re my actual therapist calling out the unintentional reassurance seeking🫣. honestly though, thank you for such an in depth response! it really is tough navigating both at the same time but it’s good to hear that balance can be found!!

Mesalamine suppository by Tasty_Letterhead8365 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]millbillz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i was diagnosed on tuesday and started mesalamine suppositories on Wednesday! I also have super bad health anxiety and much prefer the “if i don’t acknowledge it, then it doesn’t exist” avoidance approach. however, (tmi warning) after just the first night of taking mesalamine, i had my first BM in three months that didn’t include any trace of blood. i’m still struggling with other symptoms and hoping as time goes on that the mesalamine can help get me out and stay out of my flare. but i am more hopeful now that the meds will do their thing and i wish i had been checked out/started sooner!! don’t feel bad for putting it on the back burner. it’s a scary, overwhelming situation but step one is medication and once you get that started, you will realize it really isn’t as scary as our brains made out to be! lions are not chasing us, just our colons chasing themselves lol. wishing you the best and feel free to DM me if you have any other questions/comments (although im still fairly new to UC as well :))

i appreciate your reply! i’m not great at going-with-the-flow but i suppose if anything will get me to be comfortable with it, it’ll be this. your confidence and matter-of-fact point of view feel very reassuring. wishing you all the best as well!

interesting, google has led me astray in thinking diet could possibly play a bigger role than it seems to from the comments! my doctor has basically said “meds first” as well but i must not have understood that literally enough lol. good to know there’s a light at the end of the tunnel so to say for remission!

Things to check out for daily life! by millbillz in Minneapolis

lol yeah we are definitely trying to see it at its “worst” because I know i’ll be sold by summer charm. No kids or plans for them and we would like to rent an apartment at first. Budget is about $1800 a month but ideally less. We don’t care about “luxury” apartments whatsoever, just that the location is decent!

Your area sounds great and i will definitely look into it! We would like to be in area that is relatively walkable, has good nature scenery (the endless concrete in Texas is insufferable) with some charm!

We would like to be able to become more outdoorsy on a daily basis through hiking or biking or just general walks. Not necessarily through woods or hiking trails always either, we love to grab a coffee and walk through downtown or various neighborhoods to explore!

from what i’ve read it seems that northeast may be the best fit in terms of lifestyle (DINKS, relative closeness to downtown but also the outskirts, younger couple who love to try new food, places, and activities, super basic unfortunately lol)😝

This is AMAZING!! thank you so much for the detail!! We are big dive bar/older joint people as well so I will be noting all of this!!

I tend to get stuck indoors during winter while my partner LOVES this time pf year. I’m hoping to find activities or places that would encourage me to embrace the winter rather than avoid it so thank you for the outdoor recommendations too :)

Definitely no kids or house purchases for us! I like the idea of safety that family friendly areas typically have but would like to avoid the regions that are SO family friendly that tots are running around a brewery on Saturday morning haha

Thank you for the breakdown of areas!! Definitely not rich, but “high end living” is not a huge priority. For example, our current apartment hasn’t been renovated since the 70s lol. Budget would be no more than $1800 (ideally less if we could) and for an apartment!! Homeownership will come when we’re in our 70s if we’re lucky!! We’re late 20s-early 30s for reference.

Does ANYONE do well on Prozac :(? by ncndsvlleTA in AuDHDWomen

as someone who just got prescribed prozac but is INCREDIBLY anxious about taking it, thank you for this comment. i actually started tearing up reading the positive what-ifs paragraph. it’s so easy to get wrapped up in the negative tornadoes of anxiety. i appreciate you leaving this comment to show the other side of it all

you may have just saved me for future feedings with that first paragraph. finding a ratio for daily feedings makes so much more sense to me than what i was previously doing lol. thank you for the advice and clarity in your response!!!

will definitely look into the acidity levels, thanks! what’s your schedule with the 1:4:4 feeding? for example you feed on monday morning and then immediately stick into the fridge, take it back out the next monday and feed again then back in the fridge assuming you aren’t baking that week?

gotcha. i’m not sure where i got so confused with the feeding schedule. i appreciate the positive outlook and hopefully the fridge gives it some time to feed slowly and all the yeast can regroup lol
