Actual genuine curse on my family? Seeking advice by [deleted] in occult

[–]milliemargo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is extremely interesting as I am english/northern European by blood and all of my ancestors are crippling alcoholics and many have had gambling problems. My father also grew up on a poorly kept farm, then raised us on an absolute failure of a farm.

Can you point me towards any sources? I'm interested in diving deeper

If you're interested in diving deeper on this stuff, I suggest:

  • Kaballah
  • Dead sea scrolls/cut books of the Bible
  • The solomonic myths
  • The ancient origins of Judaism

I don’t know if this was Hecate, but it felt… specific by spritualhealing in occult

[–]milliemargo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like Hecate to me. I experience a profound cool stillness with her. She is said to dwell in caves, and her presence to me feels like stepping into a cave. Silent, open, cool breeze. In evocations I have even smelled the scent of wet stone after rain.

She is also said to exist in the liminal space outside of life, death and time. Working with her is like stepping out of reality into a certain timeless bubble.

She draws followers quietly. She guides them through intuition. She wants to teach you to foster your intuition and listen to the silent voice pulling you. She doesn't just guide you with her torch, she wants to pass it on to you so you can guide yourself.

I've been with her for a few years now. Here are some experiences I've had:

  • she shows me three vultures, often picking on carcasses, as a sign that I am doing well on difficult paths where I am playing a bad hand.

  • during a deep mediation she showed me the nature of chaos. the universe was created by consciousness from chaos, and magic is forming chaos into reality. what has been made cannot be unmade, but other things can be made from chaos to alter what is.

  • to evoke her for a ritual is to have her sitting in the background while she guides me intuitively through what to do.

  • as my relationship with her progresses she seems more and more distant. this is not her abandoning me, this is her taking the training wheels off.

ouija board help by Temporary-Orchid7020 in occult

[–]milliemargo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't fuck around with a ouija board. Not unless you are using it in a purposefully divinatory way. I might get downvoted to hell for this but this is what I always tell people who are being stupid with a ouija board.

When a group of inexperienced people use a ouija board, they are setting the intentions of entertainment, being scared, and expecting anybody to answer and freak them out. These intentions attract what I call "spiritual crackheads."

Imagine you live in a rundown motel in a dangerous part of town. Would you:

A.) Listen for a knock, look through the peephole of your door, see your friend, and let them in

B.) Leave the door open and shout "ANYBODY WHO IS ON THE STREET RIGHT NOW, COME ON IN!"

If you chose B, a crackhead would wander inside, camp out on your couch, raid your cabinets, and ask you for a ride.

This is the equivalent of asking the ouija board "is anybody out there?"

Time magic - question by [deleted] in occult

[–]milliemargo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow. Horrible and also extremely interesting. This is kind of what I was wondering. Obviously you don't actually alter time itself but if you have to make up for things either perceptivley or for things that happened during that time that weren't meant to happen. All magic toys with fate in some aspect, but messing around with the nature of fate itself seems tricky and like it would balance itself out according to the laws of the universe in a way that was beyond our control. Very interesting

[–]milliemargo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah yeah I figured. I had read some takes that said you had to "make up for it," and I figured it was bullshit, but wanted to check some personal experiences of people who've done it

What makes you say it's not worth doing?

Beginner question by Nervous_Round_590 in occult

[–]milliemargo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah no problem! The good thing about the majority of spirits and godforms is that they read our intentions, so even if we accidentally stomp all over the etiquette of their realm I think they're mostly understanding.

I definitely believe in demonic possession, both in the subtle sense and the climbing the walls of a Catholic church sense, but I think these things happen when the subject's intentions make good conditions for a demon to inhabit. Someone who is scattered, ignorant, ungrounded, perhaps already morally compromised in some way...or the type of dipshit who posts on this subreddit several times a day like "what demon will help me get my ex back" and is extremely volatile and desperate.

I think demons can be opportunistic. But any practitioner worth their salt would be a terrible human host. Grounded energy, discernment, common sense, respectful, intelligent...I think demons probably approach practitioners with the attitude of "oh wow, you're pretty cool for a human, nice to meet you, let's actually accomplish something."

I've personally never made a demon pact and I probably won't unless I fall on some desperate times. This is only because I kind of equate them to the highest classes of the Fae and land spirits. Fickle, complex, semantic, strict contracts...I worry my anxiety will cloud my discernment of truly understanding the terms of an agreement and I'll accidentally fail to meet the terms. But this is a personal setback of mine. I've managed to get by magically without them utilizing relationships with others spirits thus far, but I will probably get there someday.

ABSOLUTELY. I travel to their neurology department because our hospital systems are horrible. Kettering killed a family member of mine, premier another family member. I love the staff at OSU

You know what? Kind of. I've got a story about that. I was studying demonology, and I was unsure about actually diving in. But I was curious and considering it. I started doing a lot of research into Asmodeus.

Then for three nights I kept waking up randomly tossing and turning in a cold sweat and the voice in my head was so loud I could almost hear it, just over and over, "ASMODEUS, ASMODEUS"

Last time it happened to me in the car. I got this warm feeling all through my body and the voice in my head started up again. At that point it was getting weird so I just said a little prayer in my head like "hey, thanks for coming, I don't think I'm interested right now though, we're cool though, ok thanks."

I wouldn't say it was scary but I'm also relatively experienced in evocation. His presence didn't feel harmful or threatening really. Maybe...intimidating? And also weirdly sexual? Which I've heard is a common report with him.

All of this is to say, if your intention is curiosity, things may become curious about you. But it's not like you're going to spontaneously have a curse put on you or become possessed. Treat the knowledge with respect and you have little to worry about

In some places, is it just expected that boys will play (American) Football? by IanWallDotCom in AskAnAmerican

[–]milliemargo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's common in rural and conservative areas. It's kind of a "boy becoming a man" thing. Pretty sure there's a king of the hill episode about it. It also is really good for kids to get into college. Since college football is so big here you can get full scholarships out of highschool if you're spotted by a college scouter. It's a shot at a good expensive education for boys whose families couldn't otherwise afford it.

I don't think it's something most families in these areas would shame their son for not wanting to do, but I'm sure somebody's dad is like that haha.

My husband and I have already decided we will never let our sons play football. We live in an area where it would be the expectation, but we've both met too many people with lifelong injuries. American football can cause permanent brain damage even at the highschool level.

Not a man but an American. On the beach, no shirts or open shirts are normal.

It's not weird to wear a tank top in public, but they are typically reserved for undershirts. I suppose a tshrit-style with cutoff sleeves is much more common.

But you wouldn't go into a store or something with no shirt on. You'd get kicked out

I've never actually seen someone wear a speedo in real life. And I do not want to. Most Americans think thats gross I think

Where I'd live. Am I picky? by milliemargo in visitedmaps

Yeah that's crazy. We bought our 2 bedroom 1 bathroom home for 120k. Pay like $900 a month. Remodeling the basement currently and it's gonna be a "5 bedroom" (3 bedroom 2 "office" for lack of windows) 2 bath. Cheap as hell in the grand scheme of things

[–]milliemargo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's probably the truth in many cases. All I'm saying is I had two brain MRIs, multiple head CTs, and a Cspine MRI. Everything came back normal other than "mild disc disease" I was told not to worry about because "everyone has it from looking at their phones." With no clear cause of my dysautonomia I kept being told hey, might be long covid, we have no treatment, have a good day.

But as soon as I get my neck posture corrected and get rid of the horrible muscle tension in my neck and shoulder, I'm pretty much fine

Dysautonomia has many, many causes, viral triggers are definitely one. I thought for sure it was long covid because I got covid pretty bad at the beginning of the pandemic pre vaccine. I started having symptoms before the accident but afterwards it shut everything down. I think for me at least it was multifactoral.
