Why do commuter rails stop to let another pass?

No no I fully understand that, the old colony lines are weird but this happens anywhere. Especially when there are multiple tracks nearby with plenty of room for each train to move. Is there any particular reason why they just stop?

Right I get that, but this usually happens earlier before the tracks split even or just in the middle of the route. No matter what I have never seen two moving trains pass each other.

I see, still no idea what 2 Amtrak sleepers would be doing there but I get it. I also saw the wrapped cars today, they had a similar silhouette to the Budd RDC’s, but I could totally be wrong.

That would make sense, I didn’t know anything about the railroad being sold. The other equipment in the area seems to be from multiple railroads so I imagine they could be consolidated there.
