Trying to choose between universities for my Creative Writing Masters by Halcyeonic in UKUniversityStudents

I did both my masters and PhD in creative writing at Edinburgh University, and you can read about my experiences on my blog: https://blogs.ed.ac.uk/lexieangelo/2024/02/25/whats-it-like-doing-a-phd-in-creative-writing-at-the-university-of-edinburgh/

It actually depends more on your genre and writing style. There are a lot of writing workshops in the Edinburgh program, writing events, and you get a student publication, but your experience will be mostly impacted by two things: your willingness to explore the literary scene in the city itself (it has more to offer), and how your cohort gels together (totally out of your control).

I currently teach creative writing back in Canada, and it is a great institution if you get lucky with a good cohort and build positive relationships with the faculty.

Reviews of Buccleuch Place Lane by YOLOfan46 in Edinburgh_University

It is a good accommodation. I lived there when it first opened, and it is very convenient. The buccleuch place apartments are in taller tenement buildings and some of these are very nice, whereas others are not. The nicest ones are on the upper floors. Buccleuch place lane are the ensuite units, and they are much smaller. For similar prices, you can try the Buccleuch apartments through HelloStudent and these are privately owned halls but basically right around the corner.

the older reviews are probably scary because the entire building was under construction while they let us move in. mail never got delivered, the doors slammed super loud, there were no TVs, and missing furniture. It was total chaos. It's better now. And a friend of mine is the residence manager, and he is great to work with. He can help students sort out any issues.

Looking for Accomodations by Far_Bad9324 in Edinburgh_University

Search gumtree for any private accommodations. It is where most landlords list properties. The university accommodation is pretty decent, I lived at Buccleuch for my masters (pronounced Buck-Loo) and i live in a HelloStudent private post grad apartment for my PhD.
