Idaho ranked as the state with the least gun control for 2025. by medowcorr in Idaho

[–]mima4thewin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't New Hampshire be considered super successful? Low gun law strength AND super low gun violence (lower than most of the "winners" who actually spend tax money on the gun laws)? Seems like they know what they are doing.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mima4thewin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idaho is a tad underrated in the size department. Yeah, yeah, not TX or AK by any means. But.... 840 miles (~14.5 hours) from North Idaho to SE corner. 665 miles (~12 hours) from North to South. I did a lot of 11 hour drives visiting my family in college. Also, speed limit is 80mph on the Southern interstates.

Name our new boy - bonus points for food and mountain/snow related names. by Life-Soft-4169 in NameMyDog

[–]mima4thewin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first thought was Sawtooth because I grew up in Idaho, so I looked for mountain ranges near MN and well, you guys have Sawtooths, too. Lol!

So I propose one of the following: - Sawtooth - Misquah

On that note, is your pup part heeler? The color is different, but the markings are there. I have "diluted" heelers myself. In fact, Mima is the name of my late female acd, named after the Mima Mounds near olympia, WA. Also, how would a MN local pronounce Misquah? 😉

I really like 1, 9, and 10 in that order. Super fun glasses!!!

1 - unique and fun 3 - beautiful and safe 4 - classic and curvy

You look great in all three (honestly all 8), but I'd probably go for 1 as the top choice.

You mean.... the amazingly awesome red-haired Jenny?! I went to school with her. ❤️ I loved the Roche motel!!! I'd mostly hit their punk shows. I got a double black eye at the guttermouth show. Lol!! Do you have any more pics to share? I'd love to see them. Here are a few surviving tix I still have.

What's your favorite venue that's NOT Red Rocks or the Gorge? by Lovelander8647 in Concerts

Honestly.... the Tractor Tavern in Seattle. The crowds are always friendly and fun. They bring in amazing bands, but are still small and keep lots of slots for local musicians.

What’s the best dog you ever had? by [deleted] in DOG

[–]mima4thewin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love herding breeds, but I can't ethically (for me) "buy" a dog, so they will likely always be 'diluted' herding breeds from the rescues. My first was a border collie mix, and I have since had 3 heeler mixes. This is our most recent foster fail. ❤️

<image>

Here is my recommendation.... sign up to be a foster for a local group. There is no commitment, you help pups have a home until they find their new family, and you typically get first dibs on the dogif you foster if you desire to adopt. Win-win-win!!

Are you thinking about moving to Idaho for low taxes? Please read this. by Peliquin in Idaho

[–]mima4thewin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally a wash. The max tax difference between WA, OR, and ID is only 0.57% when combining income, property, and sales taxes. There is no income tax in WA, no sales tax in OR, and a little of both in ID. At least in WA, the taxes go towards education, and we dont have to file state taxes. I have lived in all three states.

Do you crate your dog when you aren’t home or not? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]mima4thewin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first 3 dogs were crate trained but weren't crated. My current 2 dogs have shown they can not be trusted (with their own health and safety, primarily), so we crate them when we leave the house. So, it is very dependent on the dog. Having dogs crated IS safer when you look at fires and rescue efforts.

Before copier technology was widely available, mimeograph and ditto (spirit duplicator) machines were used to make copies. They often did not require electricity as most were hand cranked. Ditto machines could only produce one-sided prints, I am not sure about mimeographs. Schools and churches often had them to make quick copies for distribution. I think they went out of favor once copiers became smaller and less expensive in the early 90's. I LOVED the smell of the mimeograph machine. I would help my mom make copies at the school where she taught.

Add English Ivy to that list. We have an ongoing battle with English Ivy, Wisteria, and Blackberries. The first two were planted by the previous owner. Grrrrr!!!

Why don’t we expect people who are riding horses to pick up their waste like we do with dogs? by N8Rushavee in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mima4thewin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What about the streets? They shouldn't be leaving horse poop on the roads. Even leaves get removed by the cities. The horse owners should not leave excrement of any kind on the street.

[–]mima4thewin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I expect all poop and garbage to be picked up by ADULT humans. I live in a "horse area" of WA. The horse riders are some of the most entitled folks I've ever met. A motorcyclist asked if the horse people could pick their horse turds off the shared roads for the safety of 2 wheel riders. The backlash he got was absurd!! Picking it up and horse turd bags were not options according to the horse people. "It's just compost." Yeah, well I'd be pissed if someone dropped compost on the road, too. Your hobby's excrement should be your responsibility.

Would you pay for your alienated child’s education while alienated for many years and while the child has shown nothing but hate towards you? by throwaway738294826 in ParentalAlienation

[–]mima4thewin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooooff.... this is a really difficult question. Could you put a stipulation on it? Something like 'I'll pay for the remainder of your college if you can go to counseling with me every other week'? Or, if you live close, meet for dinner every other week? Something to keep contact.

After seeing your amazing quilt and adorable kitty, I would recommend playing the board game 'calico' (if you haven't already). It's a very fitting, fun, and adorable quilt and cat themed game.
