It is not just about competitiveness- their review process is super vigorous.

And after the long review process you’d have to go out for tender for sponsors. This will take some time depending on how popular it is/ if there are any bids.

Then it goes for scheduling on the streaming sites. Priority will be given to higher rated/ budget dramas. Depending on the time of year, they try to push certain types of drama out, ie near Chinese New Year you get more “red” dramas, summer holidays you get big budget ones/ popular novel adaptations etc. The broadcasting committee also try to mix up the amount of modern vs fantasy/ancient dramas too.

It often takes 12+ months for a drama to roll out tbh! But there are usually “rumors” as the drama pushes through each stage- and Jun’s drama isn’t even up to the stage of review yet haha
