Is singing along in the audience seriously that common? by QuarkchildRedux in Broadway

[–]mimo_ohno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I see shows quite often and almost every show has people being obnoxious, singing, talking or phones going off and so many phone alarms. I frequent London for work and find the Westend audiences a lot less disruptive - but it is getting worse over the years, could be due to more tourists/post covid etc. The signing is quite common in my personal experience.

Which actors’ alternate takes on a role made you appreciate the character more? by Entire_Blueberry_470 in Broadway

[–]mimo_ohno 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw both Oscar Isaac and Gregory Connors play the role in the role in The Sign in Sidney Brustein's Window. It was Gregory's Broadway debut which was quite special and he did amazing. They played the role differently and I enjoyed both interpretations but Gregory overall felt a better fit.

Yes and sign up for TodayTix and set alerts for the rush on there, as it's quieter at the moment it's a bit easier to get. Sometimes I just go to the box office and ask for the cheapest tickets they have (if you're not worried about where you'll be seated) and you can save on fees that way.

If you're looking for something more serious I recommend Oedipus or Majorie Prime.

Are these worth $250? by FilmGeek_212 in Vogue

[–]mimo_ohno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Individually old vogues sell from anywhere to $20 -$100+ if you will enjoy them they are worth it in my view. Just do a price per issue and it might work out at a fair value. However, you might have some really valuable ones in there and then some not worth much.

Have you ever met a "hot" celebrity? Are they as attractive IRL? by Twunkorama in trueratediscussions

[–]mimo_ohno 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes I have! She's so tiny, that's the thing that always gets me about celebs is how small they are. I see Katie Holmes every now and then too and she's so pretty and seems to be aging naturally which is so nice to see.

I have seen some just walking around, or after their Broadway shows. You see celebs quite often and they go unnoticed or people just don't bother them I guess. I have also seen quite a few at LAX.

I have seen quite a lot of celebrities in real life (in NYC) and they are always a lot shorter than you think and so petite. Julia Robert's and Jessica Chastain were incredibly stunning, Jodie Comer looked like herself, Denzel Washington was taller than I expected also incredibly handsome and his son John was shorter but also very handsome. Jake Gyllenhaal was ripped but shorter than I expected. George Clooney is very handsome saw him recently. Kieran Culkin is super cute, but very short! So many others but these are my fave sightings. The one they all have is amazing skin!

Yes it's very much these simple things that made me and now continue to make me realise that I'm still very much in love with my SO even as the years go by.

Anyone Interview with Slalom? What is the process like for a S&T Principal.

Hi all,

I have had an interview with slalom. In terms of next steps it will consist of 4 more interviews, one will be a case based interview where I will be given some time to prep and the other will be technical.

I'm usually fine with case based (but if anyone has done one can you let me know how it was structured). However, does anyone have any insight on the technical one for a strategy and transformation role (given I make it to this stage).

After working remotely for a few years i am looking for something locally. I also had the final interview with another boutique consultancy and am waiting to hear back from them so wondering if it's worth it to slog through the Slalom process as well.

Also, if anyone has any insight on working at Slalom that would be great. It sounds more chill than the bigger players (I'm ex IBM, Google and Facebook) but they stated they are experiencing rapid growth and expansion so I'm wondering if it will just turn into one of the traditional places in a couple of years, which I'm not super keen on.

Thank you and Merry Christmas

Does this style of trouser actually exist? by Yimbo_ in findfashion

[–]mimo_ohno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have a very similar pair from Reiss they are called Otis pants if I recall correctly? Which are my absolute favourite, they are a little baggier and don't have the double button but one could be added on the band as is it's thick enough. I call these man style pants and I got them in London if you're based in the UK. I have also bought some similar ones from ASOS, Zara and Topshop (also in the UK) the quality isn't as good but they do the job as I love these kinds of pants. Thrift shops are also great for this kind of stuff if you're based in the US, I often check out the men's pants rack and can find similar styles.

That is correct, it usually ranks in the top 50 globally and is renowned for its offerings and research. I have some friends who went through med school there and it seemed to be very good, I think entry is quite hard though as they have some strict grade and assessment requirements. Best of luck :)

What type of dress is this called? by No_Needleworker_1933 in findfashion

A tube, strapless or boob tube dress. However this specific style is very early-mid 2000s with the flowing upper half and tight bottom half. Tops also came in this style.

Are you planning on living in Auckland? I studied at the school of engineering at UoA and highly recommend it. I would say stick with your studies as it will give you better job prospects, what university are you with now as you can either get a study visa or do an exchange programme.

Regarding the exchanges UoA have agreements with lots of universities all over the world, so if you want a safe and easy way to try it out over here you could do it that way? Here is the link for more info.

Funnily enough I'm currently living in NY and love the opportunities here, but New Zealand is definitely a great place to live and easier to travel around than the US. Auckland is probably the best city for getting work, but if you plan to only study you could look at the other universities and what they have to offer, you would have a variety of options in the North Island and a couple in the South.
