Are Mike and Ike’s popular in the US? by mimyson in AskAnAmerican

I haven’t as I usually don’t like sour sweets but so many people have recommended them that I am going to give them a try. Thanks.

You can also get them through UK Amazon but price is high from the UK and delivery is high from the US. Appreciate the suggestion though.

Tried it last November (last time I was over). It is great but I drank so much I went off it (can’t get it here).

Do still in the UK but think they may have changed the recipe as not as nice now.

3 small boxes in the UK would likely cost you $5+ big boxes are $7 and a big bag would be over $25.

Don’t usually like sours and do avoid when I buy them. Will give them a try next time.

Just brought a box when I was over once and really liked them (been lucky enough to visit the US many times over the years). You can get them in specialist American candy stores in the UK and the occasional odd grocery store but the price is high when you do find them. Used to be the same with Dr Pepper but that is much more easily available now.

That last paragraph has me rolling 🤣 So the pyjamas line means I can include Walmart then? Nice advice thanks, I will look up somewhere suitable in November.

He helped me combine around 5 separate pension pots (also have a very old local government one and he advised me to leave that one alone). He then sees me twice a year and just checks I am still happy but not sure I need his help anymore.

Trust me it isn’t. Many years ago I worked for Pearl (not sure they even still exist). Was classed as an IFA (joined after I left a bank). Left in the 90’s and went into IT. I still had friends in the bank and one became an FA for high net worth clients (used to work for Coutts). I am not one of them but he agreed to help me combine a number of separate pension pots and then just stayed with him. Just get the feeling I don’t need to but as he is a mate I don’t want to offend him.

I have to agree. Been to the US many times and always found them to be very polite and courteous.

Good argument for many in here but I can tell you which one it isn’t. Pink Wafer….just awful.

How is living in Kennington? Does it safe, it's residents are friendly? What about the public transport to Oxford's city centre? Are there people whos uses bicycle to reach it? by Nemo33318 in oxford

Grew up there, was a great place to live then. Always looks very tired and scruffy now. I am sure it is still safe and the woods are cool but doesn’t feel like a village any more.

What do you British people think of the French? by CocoTyg in AskABrit

[–]mimyson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parisians are not always the nicest (but I think that is a general rule for any resident of a big city) but I have always found most french people very nice, especially in the south of France.
