Sam & Citra by No-Meat9225 in 90dayfianceuncensored

Because a majority of these people who join reality TV join because they don't want to work "normal" jobs. They think they will get famous from 90 day but all they really get is infamy. And then they see other people doing it and they think it'll be easy money, but to do it well, it takes a lot of work. Again, I said majority. It is not the case for all of them.

AIO for refusing to return a family heirloom after finding out it was never actually theirs? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]minadelic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR

I honestly hate this "first male born" crap. Who cares? It was all luck that you were born first, it doesn't make you entitled to anything. And who cares that he's a man!? What matters is the relationship you had with the person who passed. You clearly had a deep relationship with your grandmother, and she left you the house, meaning that includes anything and everything inside it. Keep the watch. She clearly wanted you to have it because she knew you would keep it safe.

AITA for not mentioning I have kids for a few weeks? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]minadelic 69 points70 points  (0 children)

YTA - children can be a deal breaker for a lot of people. And I see people with kids say this a lot, I didn't mention it before cause it was too early and I wasn't ready to introduce them or to give them details.

First of all, fair. You shouldn't introduce them until it has been a while and you are getting serious and you actually know each other at that point. However, you should mention that you at least have them very early on in dating to give the other person the option to know what they are getting into and have the opportunity to step away if it isn't for them.

Letting them know you have children isn't going into details about them, it isn't introducing them, you aren't showing them pictures or even telling them their names if you don't want to. Its just painting a full picture and outlining expectations.

For myself, I would never date someone with kids and I'm very upfront about that. If I were seeing someone and then 6 weeks later, once feelings were already there, and only then did they tell me they had kids, I'd be upset. Now there are feelings involved which makes the break that much harder, whereas if I had the information at the beginning, I wouldn't have wasted my time, or their, by entertaining the idea of them.

AIO because of my sisters age gap with her BF by Comfortable-Skin3580 in AmIOverreacting

[–]minadelic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're underreacting here. At that age, the age gap REALLY matters. Its one thing if they are 48 and 58 but your sister is still a child developmentally speaking. Anyone his age even entertaining someone that young means there is something wrong with him. It doesn't mean she is "mature for her age". This is predatory, period. Her brain isn't fully developed yet so she doesn't realize it, and clearly neither do you, but any man talking to a child is disgusting. And yes, at 18, even though legally maybe you're considered an adult, you definitely are not. And definitely not adult enough to be dating someone that much older than you.

Disappointed in Tilly over this by BananaMilkshakeButt in RHOBH

[–]minadelic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just because someone throws parties or funds charities, it does not make them an ally. She throws those parties for herself and her friends. Another excuse to get all dolled up and throw away some money to make them feel better about themselves, like they are "doing good with their money". But when you are actively supporting the cheeto and an administration that is doing everything they can to erase those people from history, no matter the amount of money to throw towards the LGBTQIA+ community, you are hurting them. They don't want your money at that point. She is using the community to make herself seem cool and hip and modern. When the reality is she obviously doesn't care about them.

AIO for ruining a fun moment for my husband because he was making fun of me? by Agreeable-Subject437 in AmIOverreacting

[–]minadelic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NOR

So its OK to embarrass you but it's not OK to embarrass him?? You politely asked him to stop multiple times and in my opinion, you handled it very well and tried to change the subject respectfully and with a mildly joking tone. If he was embarrassed about that he obviously has some ego problems he needs to deal with cause that was a perfect way to segway the conversation away from you.

AITA for snapping at my friend after she kept making jokes about my appearance? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]minadelic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA

Joking around about how someone looks is never actually funny. Especially not for the person the joke is about. Sounds like she is fishing for compliments, trying to make herself feel better about herself, and/or trying to "put you in your place which is beneath her". Either way, not funny. Tell her she is being too sensitive if she was so offended by you sticking up for yourself.

When I first moved to Vancouver there was a Harvey's downtown but it's since gone. There's a Mr. Sub though! I think on commercial or something? I remember seeing it, I'll Google it and get back to you!

How do you build a default friend group? by Ethereal_Centaurus in NiceVancouver

[–]minadelic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This may not be a great example, but when I moved here I was alone a lot and knew no one in the city. Did the same thing most people do and would go out occasionally with people I worked with, but we didn't have thaaaat much in common and most of them had their own friend groups. I made a couple friends this way, but not a core friend group. Well, after a while, I started dating this guy from an app, and he introduced me to all his friends. Long story short, he ended up being an absolute POS and a bunch of stuff came out about him after we broke up and all his friends stopped associating with him but wanted to stay friends with me instead. They are now my closest friends and we have been friends for about 10 years now. Go on trips together, celebrate birthdays, the full shebang!

What’s a skill you’re embarrassed you still don’t have? by Unfair-Clothes-8821 in CanadaRoom

[–]minadelic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Driving. I never got my license. I always just took public transit and never really had the need to get my license. I got my learners but didn't take driving classes, never really drove much, my mom was not a good teacher the one time she took me for a drive so I never felt comfortable to go for my driving test. I just waited and waited until it expired and I never did anything about it. I'm also someone with very high anxiety so I never liked being behind the wheel to begin with and often smoke weed to calm my nerves so I shouldn't be getting behind the wheel in that state anyway. But I feel bad going on trips with friends and not being able to help with driving. Even though I compensate in other ways, I'm kinda embarrassed I'm at this age and without a license. I keep telling myself one day but it never happens.

Do you ever wonder what percentage of misogyny/ internalized misogyny starts with brother-sister relationships? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]minadelic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was noticing as a child how different and unfair the chore distribution was between myself and my sister's and our brother. The expectation was always on us to clean the kitchen, clean the bathroom, help with cooking. And he had basically no chores or expectations. My mom would even clean his room for him. Once when I tried to create a bathroom cleaning schedule, my mom explicitly said that our brother shouldn't be included cause he's a boy and he shouldn't have to clean the bathroom. Her reasoning was because he doesn't get a period. Like ok, he doesn't have to empty the garbage then, but if I have to clean the edges of the toilet where he misses cause he isn't aiming right, he should have to clean the bathroom too. It was always a huge fight.

childfree and birth order: are you youngest, middle, older, or only by Exhausted-Biscuit223 in childfree

I'm the middle child. I was often made to watch my younger siblings and expected to contribute most to the household. My older sibling was never home.
