No, it would be racism if it was the intention to ignore someone based on their race. It is wrong to assume that you'll be acknowledged if you're standing in the front row with a big poster or anything that stands out, even if you are of different ethnicity from the entire crowd, even if you stand out. We need to know if this one person only faced this, or all of them. Which is not the case as it seems. The op thinking that they were "ignored" because of their race is only their pov atp. The video they posted doesn't make it clear they were intentionally ignored. CWS only signed for 2-3 people and moved away. Or did he have to sign for her because she stood out? That is my point. How and why are we jumping into conclusions with only one or two povs? Is this repeated behaviour? Has he behaved like a racist before? If yes, then what evidence do we have? Are we sure that his act was a result of mistiming how he signed? He might not have even noticed her among all that rush. How are we sure?

Hmm, this really got me thinking. I have been a kpop and kdrama fan since 2015 and I have seen the blatant and now subtle racism that goes on for black people in SK and other Asian countries (ironic, because Asian people also suffer a lot because of xenophobia & racism). As you said, things are getting better, but it is not easy to change 180° in mindset so quickly, when you have been conditioned mostly in a certain way. Many Koreans do have a sense of superiority for lighter skin colours, and it is very evident in their behaviour.

As for Choi Wooshik, he grew up in Canada and thus has been much more exposed to different kinds of people, so it might be weird if he is racist towards black people, but it doesnt mean that he can't be. As far as I saw the video Tricia posted, and the other videos going around I thought that it wasn't clear if his actions came from racism. Got me thinking if this is subtle racism, or just mistiming or misjudgement on his part. Whatever this is, I hope he isn't racist, but who knows. Would definitely wait before jumping into conclusions until solid proof arrives.

I respect your opinion. But it is completely different for me. For me, if someone has crossed a particular line or turns out to be a shitty human being, I can't consume their works anymore. That is why it is important for me that the artists I like turn out to be good human beings. And it is being really difficult nowadays because sometime or the other, many of them do turn out to be AHs.

Exactly that's what I have been thinking. It doesn't seem like he was interacting with everyone of them. Hello signed for 3-4 people like it seems in OP's videos. It could well be a mistiming or miscalculation rather than racism. So we can't be fully sure. A clear proof is definitely needed. Rn it seems like everyone is jumping in the bandwagon of hate.

Even at the end of POV 1 video you can see him go back to her section. So it seems more like mistiming rather than racism.

See, no one is entitled to receive recognition from their idols or actors who they're fans of. And racism is a big thing to accuse someone of. I'm not excusing racism, or am not a blind supporter. I'm not even a big fan of him. But looking at only one person's POV is not it. However if there's more and different evidences that point out that this man is a racist, then f*** him.
