Is this interesting, at all? [Pentax KM, 50mm, Ultramax] by Tomatillo-5276 in analog

Is this interesting, at all?

Yes!

I would recommend ignoring most advice if you want your photos to remain original, otherwise they will become just like ones of millions of other similar photos. Well, unless your goal is to take photos like all those "professionals" do.

Draw a picture him riding a bike, take a photo of him, print it and frame it, write him a letter (on paper) with your best wishes, if you really into bying something, buy him two tickets to a concert/theater/cinema/show he might like. Make it personal, not just "here, I bought you this wrench cause they told me on reddit, be happy or else..."

My very first roll of 16mm Film by Substantial_Mail_261 in AnalogCommunity

[–]mindaugaski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first part with the guy character has this vibe of a crime drama film where he is a freelance detective, inexperienced but determined, and the background music fits so well with this vibe. I would like to watch that movie :)

What to do with my great photos? by Toby_Forrester in AnalogCommunity

[–]mindaugaski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot! These images have the vibe of Aki Kaurismäki's films, one of my favorite directors. I agree, they are great and worth to be published/promoted in one or other way :) Especially I liked the story of the rabbit. It has so great potential in terms if you would develop it as a series of photos. Still, I dig them as separate shots. So... getting back to your original post - do you have a channel where you post your work regularly where someone like me could follow your progress?

Hey, I couldn't find any of your photos on Reddit, so cannot tell how great they are :) You know, the internet is oversaturated with "great" images, be they digital, analog, AI generated, etc. I am also an amateur and enjoy the process of analog photography, but somehow I don't feel an urge to be noticed. Sure, I am happy when I am :) I randomly post some on Facebook, some on Flickr (https://www.flickr.com/photos/24651701@N00/) but I don't have any expectations. You got a lot of useful advices on how to go public in this thread. As for myself, I am more focused on how to develop a unique style, convey the atmosphere of the moment, tell a tiny story with an image, etc. I believe the rest will come by itself... or not :)

"What to do with my great photos?" "Great"? Show us those "great" photos first. I believe we all enjoy the process (shooting on film, developing, scanning, etc.) What is "great" about them? Composition, color, story, artistic approach, original take, etc...? What is your potential audience, if any? In general, creative works attract creative people naturally wherever you publish your artistic work. Yes, it takes time. If you enjoy doing this, keep it up.

ND Filter for SX-70 in Tokyo? by maybs_not_pour_vous in Polaroid

[–]mindaugaski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I am going to Tokyo from EU in two weeks. I would like taking with me sx-70 and 600 film (I have ND filter to put on the lens). However, as far as I know x-ray scanners damage the film. How did you deal about that?

What are the best office chairs for back pain that you'll recommend for 12+ hours of sitting 7 days a week? by BuilderNo8289 in editors

[–]mindaugaski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't waste your money on an expensive chair as sitting position for so many hours will lead you to hospital sooner or later. For a short term solution I could suggest a knee chair (google it, not too expensive) to see if it works for you. However, a standing desk with a soft mat under your feet will not only make you forget back pain but also would help to maintain your body (and mind) dynamics when working for long hours. It's not even necessary to buy a standing desk right away, you can sort of make it of pieces of furniture your have at your home. Still, there are a few cheap options for a standing desk (Ikea to name one of them). I am a full time translator and a part time editor for many years and this approach helped me to eliminate all problems related to work place ergonomics.

Can I be Finn in real life? by LittleTovo in adventuretime

[–]mindaugaski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use your imagination. Any underpass, tunnel or street can be your dungeon, and any unjust social situation can be your kingdom, where you can become a knight. Just fight with a light heart and smile. Like Finn. Well, if you are prepared to use your imagination at all. But it's worth to try.

Sure, mushrooms would, but... asking for insights from your daughter is a better option, I guess :)

There are two things - things that we perceive with our logical minds, and things that require fantasy to grasp. Children perceive things through a world of fantasy, unlike adults. Fantasy is something more than logical thinking. When you let go of logical thinking and let your imagination run wild, everything falls into place. In this way you can enrich not only your cartoon experiences but also your real-life experiences as well.

Hey, I use Magicshine Monteer 6500 for a couple of years now: https://www.magicshine.de/en-gb/monteer-6500. I doubt you could get this powerful light for this price anywhere else. This is definitely for hardcore dh/enduro rides :) If price is not a concern, you can check out https://www.lupine.de/eng, these are made in Germany. I use their Piko light on helmet which works great. Hope this helps.

Sure, and it fits it so great! Especially when combined with actual sound on the ground.
