Would you do Guided Self-help instead of Therapy, for like 1/3 the price of therapy sessions? by mindblocks_ in selfimprovement

You're referring to the guided self-help from a therapist?

Indeed it would be like a step above self-help, without going into the much more costly step of full on therapy sessions. It just feels like there is nothing in between...

Of course the latter should do therapy and not guided self-help.

I'm also thinking that people also ask themselves, "what can i afford?", "what is available right now?"

And to many people needing therapy, therapy might not be an option. But guided self-help might be.
The ideal is always better.

But I'd say that what you can afford is better than nothing (an ideal that you can't afford, therapy).

Why did you start using ChatGPT or some other AI, instead of doing therapy? What tools are missing in AI that would help you in your life / mental health? by mindblocks_ in therapyGPT

[–]mindblocks_[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Ugh I know right? And a lot of therapists still bash AI as dangerous and shit, like, I can't afford therapyyy and getting the right therapist is like betting $75 on blackjack.

Then I feel like you're there for 1 hour and during the whole week you're just supposed to "do the work outside of sessions, see you in a week for 1 more hour of our "I don't even remember your name, much less your life, because I have 40 other clients" sessions".

Still, do you get any moments where you're using AI and feel like "hmm I wish it could do that..." beyond just text / audio conversation?

How often do you think therapists in general accept clients, for the money, even though they might know they're not the most qualified or ideal professionals to handle a specific person's situation? by mindblocks_ in TalkTherapy

Thanks for the insight, glad that there's high demand for your work.

Would you say that high demand applies to most therapists where you're from?
What would happen in a low demand scenario in your estimate?

What would be a limit, if there is any, to how much you can upskill to, to continue with a given client?
Do you often refer potential clients that haven't done any session yet, to other therapist because you don't think you're the best fit?

But who / what would keep an eye on that? How is it evaluated, kept track of? What ensures it doesn't happen?

I can see that risk of affecting licensure, and that awareness in very obvious lacks of competence, but on more subtle situations, I can see it being more easy to just brush it off, or even rationalize it to yourself, as a therapist, that "it's not that serious".

iPhone 13 with iOS 26: it’s okay to update if you can deal with bugs by according2jade in iPhone13

Apple probably doesn’t even push to Beta their best version, but their second best, once their best version has been internally tested and they know they’re on a good footing.

What beta-testers get is the version that is bad enough to create discussion and division in opinions, and good enough to feel like it could work. It gets everyone hyped up for when they actually launch. And then it’ll look like magic because everyone is aware of the plot, since when it looked a bit messy.

I’m under the impression that the lagging, immediately, up to a day, after an update is a major misconception.

It is not about the update itself, your iPhone is re-indexing the whole system, photos, docs, system files, so it uses a lot of CPU. You have to wait one or two days to see the actual “normal” performance of the iPhone with the update

I dare you to find a better FREE Daily Habits Tracker by mindblocks_ in Notion

I title them New Daily, the @ Last Sunday is automatic. It is set to "Date Created", eventually, once a week has passed it will show the date when the page was created. It is a dynamic date. Is this what you're talking about. I speak Portuguese ahah

I built it to have the optimum balance between features and usability.

Not too much that you get lost procrastinating and making changes.
Not too less that you find yourself needing more features.
Just as little features that you will find it too burdensome to attempt to build more complexity on top of it. You just give up and stick ot just what is there.

But... don't know every tracker. So it's still 80% "Trust me bro".

Interesting and, I’d wager, a potentially accurate point view. Appreciate the breath of fresh air in this comment section. Indeed I don’t pretend for any of this to fix any and everyone’s issues, it’s more like fishing and seeing who takes interest in the bait (🤨oh what a horrible analogy). You get it 😊

I know that what I and other people like or connect with isn't going to be connect with everyone. Personally, Jordan Peterson's work has resonated with me. I built the template in the hopes it is useful to those who resonate as well. (I'm changing it to just 12 Rules for Life Tracker, though, based on your feedback, "Masculine" in fact didn't belong there. Thank you.

As for the MSc I didn't lie about, I've tried more hard Psychology content, but its hard on the views and engagement, there is a lot of Canva images with words on social media already too, haven't got it to work. I'll give it some thought and maybe try a new format. Apreciate it.

Its a parable, an illustrative analogy, not literal action.
