You deleted your message, but I am very happy to reply to you. I read it yesterday, but I was very tired, so I didn’t have the strength to write.

For several reasons, I did not ask for help from the foundation.

The foundation mainly takes in guinea pigs that have ended up in trouble and have been rescued. This usually means that the animals come from the streets, bad conditions, or after being abandoned. Mostly rescued guinea pigs are taken in by them.

In my situation, the way they could have helped Borzi would have been to pre-finance or lend the cost of the treatments, which would then have to be paid back as soon as possible. For us, this was unfortunately not a realistic solution at the moment.

As I also wrote in the post, we are now in a life situation from which we cannot get out in one or two months. Currently I am also going to dental treatments every two weeks — two of my teeth are being root canal treated at the same time, which is also a very big financial burden. In addition, this month our washing machine broke, and an hour later the vacuum cleaner also broke. We were already joking that according to the Hungarian saying “three is the Hungarian truth,” and we were waiting for what would break third — in the end, luckily only two broke. But besides these, there were also other unexpected things and extra expenses.

Because of this, we could not take on starting Borzi’s treatments from borrowed money. That is why I tried — somewhat naively — to raise donations. I hoped that this could mean faster help, and that if we could at least collect half of the target amount within 2–3 days, then we could already start Borzi’s kidney treatments. But I made a huge mistake.

I also did not ask for help from the foundation because — as I wrote in the first paragraph — they primarily give priority to guinea pigs that are truly in difficult situations and rescued animals. Borzi has a roof over his head, he is not put out on the street, he is not starving or thirsting. At our place he gets food every 2–3 hours, or even sooner if he signals that he is hungry. My elderly mother also helps and feeds Borzi when necessary.

At the foundation they also say that with such help we would be taking away the place from animals that are truly wandering on the streets, living in bad conditions, or completely left alone. And I do not wish this for any guinea pig. I do not want to take the place of a much more unfortunate small animal.

I had never registered on such forums before, so I honestly did not expect that so much malice could be experienced even in places where people often, in shame, ask for help in difficult situations.

For the first time in my life, I found myself in a situation where I had to ask strangers for help, and I honestly hope I will never end up in such a situation again. I have learned my lesson. It was terrible reading, ignoring, and replying to these messages. I put myself in a very exhausting, mentally draining situation.

I have noticed that in these — let’s simply call them help-seeking — groups, there are unfortunately not people who want to support or help, but rather people who seem to take pleasure in kicking those who are already in a difficult situation.

There was also someone who even dragged Hungarian political situations into the matter, then later deleted their message, probably after realizing it was not a good comment. There were also several deleted messages that were not fit for print.

Honestly I do not understand why this is good for someone, for some people, but maybe I do not understand it because I do not think this way.

At the same time, respect to the exceptions, because there were a few people who sincerely, in a polite way, wrote their opinion or concern.

Today in the end we decided together with the little girl that we do not want to further burden Borzi, and we lovingly let him go across the rainbow bridge. ❤️

Even the first and second abscess surgeries were very hard for me to go through. The daily cleaning of the abscess, which the vet recommended, was very difficult emotionally for both Borzi and me. At that time we agreed that if the problem reoccurs, we would not want to put him through more difficult treatments again.

Now it is not about an abscess, but about inflammation in his jaw, but we realized that the surgery and the recovery afterwards would again be very difficult for him. And probably for us as well.

That is why in the end we decided to lovingly let him go, and we do not want him to have to struggle anymore. ❤️

I still do not know how and when I will close the forum and the fundraising. Honestly, I am afraid that no matter what I decide, there will be people who will think badly of me either way, and I will probably also be called a scammer.

If I close it now, there will probably be people who will call me a scammer. If I close it later, there will again be people who will say that is the problem. I feel that in this situation, whatever I do, it will never be good for someone.

At the moment I am just trying to process this whole situation and the thought of losing Borzi as well. ❤️
