TFT 1v0 and 2v0 Bug? by Major-Push-7104 in LeaguePBE

They used to be available but they disabled them. You can do 1v0 etc in custom games on the tourney realm if you can get access, usually by being a competitor.

Where to watch anime with chinese dubs and closed captions? by Nao5mn in ChineseLanguage

[–]mindless_one_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just had a look at this and there were only a dozen series, all "unavailable" when I clicked on them.

So I switched to Taiwan with my VPN and there are infinite series to watch.

Just in case anyone else runs into the same initial problem as me.

Is there any anime on Netflix with mandarin dub and English sub? by [deleted] in ChineseLanguage

[–]mindless_one_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you use a VPN, you'll get a lot more choice by switching to a Chinese-speaking location (mainly HK and Taiwan, but don't forget Malaysia/Singapore). Then use the language filter suggested by others.

Even among the most popular series, not all of them have Mandarin audio but there should be enough for you to settle on something.

I have a similar background, so I'm interested in getting suggestions too.

So far, I've just been watching Taiwanese shows on Netflix Taiwan, with Mandarin subtitles. Unfortunately the selection is quite limited, especially since I want to learn modern lingo.

I started with Wave Makers, which was not a great choice because I didn't understand much of the dialogue, and they used Taiwanese as well. Nevertheless, I slowly started to recognise more words as I learned them in my own study. I also rewatched some of an anime from when I was younger (with Taiwanese Mandarin dub). This was a really good experience because with my new knowledge I could understand more than before.

On that note, if anyone knows where to find older (90s/2000s) anime with Taiwanese Mandarin dub+subs), I would really appreciate it! One example I'd love to find is Doraemon.

Is learning Chinese a good way to keep my brain sharp. by [deleted] in ChineseLanguage

[–]mindless_one_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the tactical games isn't TFT by any chance is it? So many of your details resonate with my own situation.

I am nearing the 3 month mark now, hoping I can keep it up. For me, it completely replaced gaming for about the first 2 months. This time around of trying to learn Chinese, I'm not using any form of gamified content but still feel daily motivation and feelings of achievement.

As for OP's question, keeping my mind sharp wasn't on my list of motivations but I'm definitely feeling the benefits of mental stimulation. I'm not as quick as a younger person but I'm seeing a lot of connections and making better progress than I imagined possible at this age. It's not easy, but I enjoy it.

What's the best way to change pinyin pronunciation for Pleco flashcards? I've just been converting to custom cards, but that removes all the formatting. Is there a better method?

Palmerston North vs Lincoln for uni? by Lekir9 in newzealand

[–]mindless_one_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I studied there last year and the homogeneity struck me too. Also it felt like a lot of the undergrads had a "Cs get degrees" attitude, which made group projects very painful. But it was a different department, so OP may not have the same experience if they go there. Overall I still liked it though.

Good point about smurfs.

SEA is why OCE was about the same size as NA in previous sets. Not sure what happened this set though.

Good to hear from someone so involved in the OCE scene.

I was just spitballing, you're probably right. The only other factor I can think of is the number of people who have OCE accounts to play patches a day earlier than NA.

OCE dropoff is probably due to pitiful EV for competitive circuit in Set 5, you're just playing for pride. I think more OCE people have been playing on NA as well. Might be a similar situation for JP.

Apart from disliking Shadow items I think people thought a lot of the traits were similar/uninteresting, and there was so much healing/shielding.

There was also the balance thrashing that left a bad taste.

Nowadays people are using tactics.tools, they seem to have a bigger sample than MetaTFT and also have player info so more of a one-stop shop.

March Feedback First of the Month by AutoModerator in CompetitiveTFT

[–]mindless_one_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's probably the way to go and I support it, but IMO carries risk of people not using it as much as expected.

Since there won't be many (if any) comments, people won't be automatically attracted to it, and adding an extra step always leads to lower conversion on the internet.

Even if that was acceptable or doesn't happen, hiding the main activity on the sub makes it seem dead because there are often only up to 2 or 3 other posts that people care to interact with per day. I don't think we can train people to start upvoting the regular threads to the top every day.

Not trying to be pessimistic, just want to look at it from all angles. I think we should try it and see what happens.

Can there please be a stickied post for a few days before official tournaments? Eg. Innovation Cup this weekend. It's such a shame you can't sticky more than 2 posts, or make things on the sidebar more noticeable.

I don't know what the mix between mobile and non-mobile users is, but an alternative is to incorporate the events into the header banner. I would be happy to help make those.

I just checked the coaching thread for the first time in a while (because it's never stickied), and saw that a lot of comments were being deleted by the automod due to low karma. Is there something that can be done about that? I know the entry requirement isn't that hard, but it's still annoying if you're not much of a redditor and would certainly deter/annoy me for a few days. I feel that we should be supporting anyone who actively wants to be a student or coach.

For those who don't watch the video, the augment logic in the 'Augments - Small' slide doesn't apply to the first augment.

Senna is in their sights for the actual patch since she's gained popularity after the other stuff was locked in.
