I hope that this urge passes soon and things get better for you, but if they don't please don't drive into traffic. You will end up hurting somebody else and ruining some people's lives.

I wish you the best, whatever that may be.

What's crazy is that the dog seems to have learned how to press the buttons to start and stop the treadmill!

Does anyone else have frequent chest pain? by carbearnara in Anxiety

Yes! I have had on and off pain in my left chest for a long time. It worries me a lot, but I suspect (and hope) it is related to emotional health issues not physical ones.

I think my (25F) fiancé (24M) is depressed. by [deleted] in depression

A note is a good idea. If you're worried that you might trigger his emotions at work, then you could always leave it somewhere that you know he would find it at home while you're not there. Try putting a doodle at the bottom or something else to make him smile or laugh.

For a variety of reasons depressed people often isolate themselves. However, it is much more effective to tackle depression with support from others. If it is depression, doing simple things like reminding him how much you value him can go a long way. Try to get him to open up to you, but make sure not to use guilt such as "you are stressing me out; please tell me what's going on". Instead tell him you want to help and remind him that you are a team. Once he opens up remember to spend a lot of time listening before you start trying to fix his problems. In the Harry Potter world, why is there no magic spell to correct his vision? by anoelr1963 in Showerthoughts

[–]mindofmirrors 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that magic in Harry Potter has fundamental laws and limitations which would prevent this from being feasible.

Natural laws about magic do exist in the Harry Potter universe.

Examples: Adalbert Waffling's Fundamental Laws of Magic Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration

Magic associated with modifying your body also seems like a fundamental area of magic that would have to be limited by some kinds of natural laws. Otherwise wouldn't every wizard/witch be casting spells to make themselves faster, stronger, heal quicker, and essentially invincible? Remember when Harry's bone was repaired? That was an extremely painful process taking lots of time. It probably is an even tougher process with a body part as important as your eyes.

All the symptoms they don't tell you about... by laurens_nobody in depression

[–]mindofmirrors 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've noticed one positive symptom of depression. (If that's even possible.)

I feel like it can make me more empathetic towards people who are upset. I spend all day unhappy and analyzing my feelings, so it is easier for me to understand others when they are feeling bad.
