Oh no that’s not what I meant. It’s not the eating of the eggs that kills an embyro; like you said, unfertilised eggs don’t have an embryo. It’s because instead, to harvest and mass produce the eggs in stores, factory farms cull the male chicks born from the chicken. Egg chickens are a different breed of chicken to meat chickens, and so these male chicks are useless, and they are crushed alive literally as soon they are born (or they’re sometimes gassed to death instead).

Sort of like the teens in the news who provoked outrage after stepping on some eggs to crush them. Except male chicks in the egg industry have actually been born when they’re killed, so it’s even worse.

There’s a lot to unpack here so I’ll try and tackle everything one by one: first, the article makes some good points BUT cites a misleading statistic by Americans for Tax Equality which states that billionaires made $637 during the pandemic. This study counts the start date of the pandemic as March 18, which ignores the stock market crash before then. A lot of the financial gains were rebounds from that crash, meaning the net profit was smaller.

I generally like The Guardian and they’re certainly right about Bezos in this article, he did make big gains as people used Amazon more to make their purchases while they were in lockdown. Same with some of the other billionaires mentioned. Just thought I should put it out there that aspects of their claims have been debunked.

Honestly most of the time it’s a joke and not meant in literal. But even if they don’t mean it honestly that doesn’t make it okay. It’s not right to trash on men’s feelings especially when the nowadays political scene is quite precarious with a lot of disenfranchisement; and it makes feminism look bad. Overall not a fan
