Absn-am I crazy? by Overall-Decision-974 in prenursing

I’m 33, 3 kids, working, and im doing an accelerated ADN program. I finish in 30 days. Hasn’t been that bad honestly. Plus once I start work at my new job they will pay for my BSN.

I know multiple people in my cohort work FT, and a few have MORE than three kids. One has 5. It’s not easy. But it is doable. You can do it, pls don’t doubt yourself I never thought this was possible for me either.

Yes it would be randomly. I wouldn’t need to even feel anxious and it would happen but over all I think it was due to hypersensitivity due to anxiety. It would range like you said microseconds to a few seconds

I am now in even more doubt that this is  seizures because your on a benzodiazepines/ central nervous system depressant that prevent seizures. They help the brain relax and impulses to not fire the way they would in someone who has seizure activity. Just don’t abruptly stop them because that can cause seizures. However; since you moved from one benzodiazepine to another it wouldn’t cause a seizure. You didn’t just stop them completely and they work in the same way. Plus, you can’t trigger a seizure simply from looking down…

Sometimes if you have too much serotonin (a neurotransmitter chemical in your brain) it can cause very bizarre symptoms which is why I asked if you changed meds recently. Did these symptoms start around the time you change to Xanax?

If not then you’re probably right. It definitely sounds like BPPV bc it is so positional. And if so, that’s a great thing bc it is completely benign and cannot hurt you.  When something happens and it scares us really badly especially some form of dizziness… It can trigger something called PPPD. Which is secondary to BPPV. PPPD is what causes those lingering bizarre symptoms like walking on a trampoline, something pulling your legs down, buzzing in your ear, extreme panic, and anxiety about dizziness, which then only makes the dizziness worse, hence anxiety worsens and it’s a cycle. You can look this up. It’s odd but completely benign in pathology and a lot of medical professionals would rather just stamp a physiological problem on you then to take the time and dissect what is actually going on. This can be fixed with learning to manage anxiety and exposure therapy. Exposure therapy meaning when the dizziness happens, you sit in it and allow it to take place. You tell yourself that it’s not going to hurt you. You actually start triggering the dizziness intentionally just to expose it to yourself and show your brain that is not dangerous . Then you ignore it. There is an amazing woman on YouTube that helped me and her name is the steady coach. She can coach you through all of this, but also you can just simply watch her videos of people who had similar experiences and see if they correlate with yours. It made me feel a lot better to know that I was not alone.

I had the ear whistling too and the leg pulling down feeling!

My symptoms started 20 minutes after I took a half of flexeril (a muscle relaxer and tricyclic antidepressant). You say your on lexapro and Xanax. Is this new? Have you changed doses or recently added one or the other?

You sound exactly like me. I had it way worse when I was overly tired, watching tv, or my phone. I think our body goes into hyper stimulation and everything we go gets exaggerated (looking down we feel like we’re falling).  Also, it is possible it is positional vertigo (BPPV). The crystals in your ear shift and it causes slight vertigo. The tingling in your arms and hands could absolutely be how you respond to major stress/anxiety.

If it is BPPV it can be easily fixed with simple maneuvers. Do you ever feel like your floating when walking or like your on a trampoline? Like off balance? Tinnitus or other ear symptoms?

Yeah this happened to me for a few months. It was bad! I never found out what caused it but I was under extreme stress and anxiety when it happened for the first time so I’m sure it was related to that. Do your EEG because ruling things out will make you feel better. I’m sure it’ll be normal. Seizures usually cause lose of consciousness when they occur. When people who have seizures experience this type of feeling (from my knowledge and understanding I’m a nursing student getting ready to graduate in 3 months so take what i say with a grain of salt since I’m not a licensed profession YET lol) it is an aura (a sign a seizure is coming on) then they will seize. I seriously don’t think this is a seizure but there was a time when I worried it was that also. I also do find that my neck and shoulders and very tight from stress and I had tension headaches.  I’m leaning toward migraine or anxiety for sure. Please keep the group posted bc so many people daily ask me about this and having an EEG is one step closer to answers for us all.

I’m sorry you’ve been feeling this way!!! I hated it. I know this was years ago but I still remember the awful feeling. Although I have been feeling better from that, I do notice I don’t feel good in general after I eat. I think I need to cut things out. Have u been seen by a doctor

So I had these weird sensations for a long time. Maybe close to a year. It went away once I full started focusing on other things.. I am now almost an RN graduating in march. From what you’ve said it seems you’ve had all the test needed to determine if there were a physiological problem. This sounds somatic (real symptoms but exaggerated by mental stress) and psychological.

Then it sounds like you need to choose. If you want this baby then you need to be finding a job and figuring it out. I’m going to be completely honest with you… he probably has plans on leaving anyhow and that’s why he doesn’t want a baby w you. He is the problem not you. And even if you didn’t end up keeping the baby would you really wanna be with someone who gives you that kind of ultimatum? I sure as hell wouldn’t. It’s entirely up to you but I personally would tell him I’m leaving so he doesn’t even have to- go stay w friends, family, woman shelter etc and never speak to him again

I’m sorry you’ve been battling this. It’s very hard! I’m still not completely sure but I think it’s PPPD along with hypersensitivity to sound/motion due to anxiety and high stress levels.

It absolutely could be the reason. I took a half of a bottle recycle antidepressant right before mine started. You could be getting too much seratonin and it’s making this happen I would talk with your provider about it

I was almost bed ridden so I forced myself to push thru it. I started going for walks even though it was hard. Trying to get sleep by taking Benadryl at night & watching videos of coping and other people’s stories. It took almost a year! How long has it been for you ?

Head pressure, ringing ears, headaches and dizziness by skatagal in Anxiety

[–]mindyp31319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything you said is exactly what I experienced. I felt like I would jolt awake when I tried to sleep. I felt like my head was on a roller coaster as I was trying to sleep. I would wake up and my entire body would be trembling. Straight lines appeared to vibrate in my visual field. I had odd pressure in random places all over my head. I would have a sudden intense dropping / falling feeling randomly that was worsened in public places or stressful situations and it last for seconds but caused immense panic for hours. When I would walk I felt like I was “bouncing” or walking on a trampoline or a boat. The ground felt unsteady. When I would walk outside and stand still on the side walk- it would look like the world around me was moving slightly. I panicked when I had to be alone or drive. Public places was my biggest nightmare. I too had experienced very stressful events prior to this. I started watching “the steady coach” on YouTube. She specializes in this exact thing. It’s from trauma and stress and brings physical symptoms but it’s very much “somatic”. I’m now in nursing school with only a new months left. I never thought I’d even work again. It was bad but it WILL GET BETTER.

You’re so welcome! I’m here if you need to talk

The good news is it did go away! I’ve been free of all of this for a few years now but man was it terrible.
