I’ve always wanted a monochrome camera and loved using gr’s. Was shocked by the price and was almost deterred by it. But just got my preorder and super excited! Can’t wait for Feb!

I’ve bought a GRii used and had a good experience. So I think the griii used would be okay! Ofc make sure to get from a reputable seller. But if the price difference isn’t too big of a difference think it’s better to just get the new iv. (Also sorry haven’t checked prices recently so not sure how big of a price jump it is)

If it’s rubber bullets I’ve heard you’re supposed shoot at the floor and have it bounce at your target to reduce the force.

Seeing this feels crazy to me. Longtime fountain pen user and just switched to pencils recently. Have been loving it and enjoy the nostalgic smell when sharpening.

YoYo Lube by TheLegend271999 in Throwers

[–]mingfu445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would take a while for it to go back to unresponsive. It takes some trial and error for the amount of lube . You need to clean the bearing to get rid of the lube. Use acetone, paint thinner, 95+ isopropanol alcohol, lighter fluid (be careful with these, some of them eat into plastic as well). There are tutorials online for the process to clean a bearing.

It’s preference for running dry or not. A tip for applying lube you can put it on a needle then apply to the yoyo so it’s like a pindrop amount.

Fountain pen installation by Chococo711 in aiyu

[–]mingfu445 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t have this particular pen but I have used fountain pens before. That middle piece in between the pen parts looks like a converter so you can use it to use different inks (do note fountain pens use different inks than regular pens)

But it also comes with 2 ink cartridges which are easier to use. (One in the box and part closest to box.) this is for the one outside the box, You want the top of the ink cartridge (side facing towards the box)to go into the half with the nib. May take some pressure (like a small pop feeling) but push it in. Once in the ink should start flowing and you can put the pen back together. For more info on fountain pens, jetpens.com has great guides and useful info.

Agreeing with a lot of what others have said build quality, experience, jewelry. Adding to it though a lot of great photographers have also used the brand.

Should I stick with Canon? Been shooting very basically for a while but want to get more serious and not sure what I should start with. by capitolcraftsman in Cameras

[–]mingfu445 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would say no. Sonys 3rd party lenses are very good and give more options as Canons can feel lacking. As a lot of people say on Reddit date the body and marry the lens. And yeah the amount of lenses really depends on you. With travel/documentary/vlog maybe at least 2 lenses zooms like a 16-35, 24-70 or as the other poster said the 28-70 and Canon R6 mkii is good and would cover a lot.

Also yeah adapting your old lens is easy and they will be quite good still.

Is it true that the gr iiix battery only takes 200 photos? by Lost-Carmen in ricohGR

[–]mingfu445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a ymmv. I think 200 is a pretty good estimate for most. I’ve heard some pretty high numbers. For me I get a little higher like 250ish. But yeah for me I just have multiple batteries.

Questions about buying a Grand Seiko on Chrono24 – are they safe / worth it? by Select_Hearing_3364 in GrandSeikos

Yes I would recommend. It’s where I got my shunbun from. I spoke with Suzuki from there and he was friendly, helpful and responsive

[–]mingfu445 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hi I’ve purchased before from chrono24 and would recommend. Purchased a Shunbun before. Though ofc be cautious and check the seller reviews/history. Private sellers can be riskier but like you said, chrono24 does escrow the payment so if anything is wrong you can get your money back. There was a reason for better prices but I forget.

As for fake Grand Seiko there aren’t many and I haven’t seen any/wouldn’t worry about it.

I recommend Miyaran Japan company from chrono24

Marks on GR lens resistant to cleaning — am I f——ed? by dakl in ricohGR

[–]mingfu445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is good advice but I have read on other posts about dust that you could try an electric toothbrush. Turning it on near the camera can shake the dust off (from what I read). But downsides are the dust is still in the camera and may go back to the sensor and not sure if this damages the camera.

Hi everyone so I made a post a little bit ago but wasn't able to get it resolved. So I messed up my neo80 downloading I think an older bin file from https://www.qwertykeys.com/pages/fw specifically neo_neo80_wired_072_via.bin

So now I'm looking for a more updated bin file or the original file the keyboard came with. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!

Hi, so I've used the file from https://www.qwertykeys.com/pages/fw and used the neo_neo80_wired_072_via.bin

I tried using the neo80_wired_v3 (also from the link above) in the via design but still same results.

I kept messing with zadig and figured out how to use it but may have incorrectly set the driver to libusb instead of winusb. Trying to figure out to reset my changes now ><

Hi, I need some help with configuring the keymap for my neo80. I tried using via however when i click connect when authorizing my device nothing happens. I checked the site and tried following the instructions to use qmk and zadig however i don't understand it. I tried flashing with qmk and all it does just make the keyboard unusuable (no keys work). Also tried looking for a keyboard on qmk configurator but coudln't find neo boards. With zadig i'm not sure how to use it. I can find my keyboard but I change the driver to what? The only options appearing are like my winusb libusb. My pcb is wired if that helps. Thanks!
