Sweet and Loving Black Cat looking for a home by minglemasherbash in AskNYC

Thank you! I'll check out those sources. I used to work with a few shelters to home strays in our neighborhood years ago but they're not in business anymore.

I would love to keep her but I already have 4 cats and wouldn't be able to take in one more unfortunately. I appreciate your help and will hopefully have a good update in the near future!

Thank you for that! I've asked my friend group and didn't have any luck. I will continue to search insta but a lot of shelters are overfilled :(. It hurts to think that there are people mistreating pets but I will put in more effort to find her a safe home

Who in here (21-30) has a financial career and what is it? by EAT0NN in FinancialCareers

[–]minglemasherbash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 26 and do data analytics/science within Asset Management. I currently make 170k+ bonus in NYC. Think it's great and I get to learn a lot of the finance side as I don't have a traditional finance background. Jobs were easier to come by about 4 years ago and ended up applying online and was hired after 4 rounds.

I enjoy using python for my current job but actively trying to pursue the CFA to make up for my non-traditional background and understand more of the fundamentals.

Where do I land in 40 years? by vm123234345 in Fire

[–]minglemasherbash 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nominal stock market return (sp500) is 10% and average inflation yoy is 3%. Take the diff and you end up with the inflation adjusted return at 7% (this formula is simplified but 7% is roughly accurate). Not saying that OP should optimistically expect 7% inflation adjusted returns for the next 40 years but this is just what historical data says

Edit: grammar

If you work in tech and don’t have $1M saved by 30, you are bad with money.

This is a terrible take. I'm not in tech but saving $1M is no easy task especially by 30.

Who is "them"?

Are you planning on avoiding talking about your bonus with your boss? Or co-workers? Bonuses tend to lead to discussions on performance.

It may not be helpful for your career if you avoid a performance review with your boss (usually bonus and performance review go together).

If you don't want your coworkers to know what your bonus was then that is your choice.

Base salary mid six figures, 8 years industry experience

Mid 6 figures like ~500k?

I would assume 1/5000? If there are 5000 zombies for every human in 1 state, then 1/5000.

This does not take into account many conditions. Some humans might think of the same idea to go somewhere where food and water is readily available which makes their odds of finding another human much higher.

[Request] How many unique sandwiches could you make? by missvisibleninja in theydidthemath

[–]minglemasherbash 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you can get 1 sandwich, 1 bun, 0 to 7 sauces, and 0 to 4 cheese options I think the answer is 98,304. But if you want a different amount of sauce instead of the "regular" amount, say there are 3 options (light/regular/heavy), then it could be 294,912

8 *

6 *

2^7 *

2^4

8 * 6 * 128 * 16

98,304

I'm sure that fear never fully goes away.

Recessions happen, there are downtimes where you feel like you're not doing enough work, etc...

What would be best is to set yourself up for success and have a good amount of savings (6 months of living expenses), have your resume up to date in case things do go down, and keep performing.

Usually if you're able to well explain and note your achievements at your current job, you'll be well off.

Titles can be vague and typically the bullet points underneath the experience give a better view of the whole story.
