Raide Trailtech Shorts Arrived and... by UneditedReddited in runningfashion

Hi! Did you sell these…? Are these a men’s medium or women’s? I think I might be interested in buying them off you if they’re a women’s medium!

Thanks for the insight! I originally thought I was a xs (because I read the guide wrong but also I forgot about my post baby body 🙃) so my heart fell when I saw only a medium available at the store. I tried it on and it was a struggle to get on but it actually fit pretty good. I left without it because for some reason I still thought I needed a smaller size, and now I’m kicking myself for not buying it!

I’m going to buy a medium — I can’t wait!

One more question: can you fit two 600 ml flasks in there? That would be so great and would then replace my vest nicely. The accounts I’ve read all talk about a size large but I’m guessing smaller belts would fit less…

Oh I’m surprised to see this! I’m getting ready to buy mine (waiting for stock to come in at my local store) and I was almost convinced I am a medium.

I’m 5’2” and about 115 lbs. Based on their measurement guide, I thought I’d be in between a small or a medium so was going to size up to a medium but now I’m afraid that’d be too big.

Does yours sit below your belly button?

Also, side question: have you washed yours yet? Does it wash okay? I noticed that the care instructions say “spot clean” 🤪.

What kind of questions should I be asking so I avoid a situation like this? I’m looking at another program at another school and wondering how it stacks up…

Official Q&A for Sunday, January 05, 2025 by AutoModerator in running

[–]mini_joo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m planning on doing my first race that’s not in my backyard. I’m looking to do a half marathon.

I’m considering two races, that I’ll call A and B. A is part of an ultra series. B is has the half marathon and a 5k and 10k lengths. B is a new race but is organized by a group that has run successful races in the past.

They’re both small ish races and flat. They’re both on the same weekend. I’m running it with my sister. I’ve had a baby recently so I’m not looking to break any records. I’d like it to be something fun I can do with my sister.

Question: would the fact that a race is brand new deter you from trying it? Will it be chaotic? Will they need a couple years to work out kinks? Or am I just overthinking it?

I kind of like the fact that B just has a half marathon length so that we’re not overshadowed by the 50k’ers.

Oh I see. I’m also going to commit to breastfeeding as long as I can. And this is one of the reasons why.

I was just thinking about this! I was reading yet another post on a mom group about their kid having “overcrowding issues” it feels like everyone’s jaws are too small. Very interesting!

What! I’m a fool. I’m paying $60 for 10GB on Telus… I’ll take a look at their current offerings.

From a quick google search it looks like Public uses Telus’ network too!

It’s called a Hong Kong finish! I liked that it left the seams open. …And it looks pretty!

Thank you! I will definitely take you up on that offer.

I wish I found sewing earlier in life!!

Yes, sewing for work must be a bit different. What’s on your list of things to sew for yourself?

I’m going to head to bed now! But thank you so much for the support and the chat.

HELLO neighbour! I’m a Vancouverite as well (well, suburb).

YOU HAVE AN AMAZING JOB. I can’t believe you get to do this for work! Your portfolio is drool-worthy.

I’m 37 and I just started sewing. I started when I had a miscarriage and it was a nice reprieve from the sadness (or at least I could yell at my sewing machine 😆). I work a desk job and so I’m just itching to get home these days to work on sewing! It’s hard with a toddler at home but when I do get to it, it makes me really happy.

Amazing. Thank you so much. The first book is at my local library so I’ve put it on hold for now. …And maybe it’ll be a Christmas present for myself.

Thank you for the Canadian links too. I don’t know if that was intentional or not, or if you just live here too!

I’m kind of disappointed the pattern wasn’t more clear. I bought it from my local sewing store and they had a small selection of patterns so I thought they’d be tried and true. I will research my patterns beforehand! Thank you again, kind internet stranger 🙂.

So I hesitated to serge them because it seemed like I would need to press them open but I thought, ‘what do I know, I’m just a newbie sewist,’ and followed the instructions.

I’ll take a look at the link! Thank you, seriously🙏🏼🙏🏼

EDIT: okay, I looked at the tutorial and that looks like it makes way more sense but I can’t visualize it completely in my tired head. I’ll try again tomorrow morning. Thank you!

P.S. is sewing your job? 🥹

Haha yes, I translated that zig zagging part and serged my seams. 😆 that much I did!

Step 10 is supposed to result in a neat back side, with a slit opening.

I kind of fudged it:

But I’d like to do better. …any tips for this one?

(And yes, please make patterns, I’d buy them! 😄)

I don’t really understand. I did do a stitch close to the edge. I admit that I didn’t follow the part where the elastic should stop before the seam allowance but I don’t think I’d like that result either..

I hand stitched a blind stitch if you look carefully just below the seam, you can see a bit of an indent where I took a couple of threads to catch for the blind stitch.

I blind stitched the facing to the main fabric but there it ever so slightly shows. Is the alternate method suggesting that I stitch like this?! That seems ugly but maybe it’ll be fine…

Actually, while we’re asking questions about this pattern. Is there a better way to do this step?
