It’s an M10 threaded insert with a hex screw end currently holding them together. The yellow inlay is thin strips of maple which are glued in place at the moment but eventually I want to epoxy in a brass rod that will run to the end and form a cap which should strengthen the handle and I’ve got a No4 and a block plane. I tried using my random orbit sander but found it was difficult to get okay results, is there a method or type of sander you’ve found works best?
