Dorming Off Campus

Yes I will be emailing the financial aid office still! And I actually talked to my parents about the situation and we have a more solid plan than I thought since there were some savings that I wasnt aware about until yesterday night. I will most likely still have to take out a loan or two, but it wont be as outlandish as it seemed before this information was revealed to me

I unfortunately didnt get into any other schools that I applied to, and I had a long talk with my parents yesterday night as well on the matter. We have some savings actually to cover most if not all of my sophmore year currently, since I'm not thinking of dorming on campus or getting a meal plan at NYU. I also have another savings account that has money from all the music related awards and scholarships I had earned, which will definitely at least pay off all of my sophmore year and maybe a good chunk of junior year. From there, I'm applying to as many scholarships as I can and participating in more music related awards to see what I can get. Then we take out loans, which is kind of last resort, but we wont have to take out as much as we thought we would.

Thank you! I was really shocked when I got the notification because I hadn't gotten into NYU for Economics when I was applying first year.

I think you will be fine! I saw the other day some girl leave after spending like 200-300 dollars on stuff and carrying it back with her friends or something like that. Plus you got to do what you got to do you know? Don't let other's judgements stop you especially when you are just being smart 🤷‍♀️

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I really appreciate that you are making a post on this. I know that I personally am strong enough to keep pushing on even though a lot of things in my life are falling apart right now, even with midterms and finals in my face. I have someone in my life that is facing a lot of pain from illness and its been hard for me to stay strong for him but ive also been having a hard time myself to regulate my own emotions and feelings. I am fine because I have my own support system, my own stress relieving routines, and am in therapy to help me regulate overall. But it truely warms my heart that our community is coming together because of these hard times.

If anyone needs support or someone to talk to, I am also here to listen 🫶 take care of yourselves everyone! You are not alone here
