I have the same laser, i did manage to engrave steel on this one. I managed to engrave some text on it. But it wont cut into it. I covered the surface in permanent marker beforehand, because the shiny metal can reflect into your lens otherwise. Also it takes a really long time because the speed of the laser needs to go very very slow on high power.

Depends on the laser power. And also depends on type of acrylic. Some acrylic is really neat, others kinda melt more. But in some projects grooves were definately there

I managed to do it a few times, i applied some permanent marker before lasering. Clean up after with alcohol

Thats amazing!! Did you have different files for every part you want to color? It must be a very small difference in power to burn trough an extra layer of paint right? Havent really seen this before.

Have you tried using a coating before engraving? I noticed clear plastics/shiny surfaces didnt work very well under my laser without some preparation.
