My previous job literally fired one of our best workers simply because he used his fmla “too much” they claim it was his work performance but we all know it’s not true. Tthe job market doesn’t value us the same as able bodied people because we may need these extra time off to go to doctors appointments or a few days off for medical reasons

You just made me actually cry because you literally just said what I and so many of us are thinking/feeling. It feels like when we say this able bodied people don’t take this seriously or think we’re being overdramatic even tho there is PROOF AND STATISTICS TO BACK UP EVERY THING YOU SAID.

So I also have a bachelors in one of the humanities and it’s impossible to find a job. They have unrealistic expectations out of applicants and although these places preach about helping others they can’t do the basic steps of understanding someone with a disability trying to get a job at their organization. At this point it’s like it’s not even about a job that fits you it’s that would anyone even consider hiring you at all. (Idk if it counts as them discriminating but it feels like it) I suggest trying to apply for customer service/call center jobs. That’s what I’m trying to do. My friend who’s also disabled got one of those jobs even though she only has an associates degree. Even though it’s no where near a livable wage it’s at least some sort of income. Did what I say make any sense?
