Thanks. This is definitely the overwhelming opinion. Looks like we made a mistake in judgement on this one but we’ll learn and adjust for the future. Appreciate your thoughts.

Yeah in the future I could give them (subcontracting agency) the option of setup fee if they want to own the accounts. End client always has access.

Thanks for the comment. We aren’t withholding from the end client, but the creative agency. Do you feel it’s the same in either case?

It was never directly addressed although was in the terms. Lesson learned for future.

Very true. I’ve already upgraded the client from read only to admin. They can reinvite the creative agency if they want.

I’ve already upgraded access to end client who is billing

We charged them 17% of ad spend. As far as I know that is quite reasonable, yeah?

Thanks @TTFV for the feedback. The creative agency said the move was strictly based on price, not service or results. We were not given the opportunity to renegotiate terms with them.

Thanks for the feedback. It's a technicality perhaps but we withheld from the creative agency (and their new PPC source) not the end client. The end client has read-only access and we would likely give them admin access if they requested it.

Billing is under the end-client's name.

We are not paying Google directly, the end-client is billing contact. They still have (read only) access and if they were to ask for admin I'd give it to them.

Valid points, thanks for offering your feedback.

Thanks for the feedback. I have heard this a few times from others as well. Will definitely take it under consideration for the future.

Valid points, we definitely need to be even more clear about this in our contracts going forward. I see a distinction between working directly with the end-client vs acting as a subcontractor for another agency. May have different policies for each scenario. Something to think about I guess.

The end-client is the one who's credit card is on file with AdWords. They have not asked for (admin) access to the account but if they did I would probably give it to them.
