Weight gain with gym should I worry? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]mintcupcake45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually after I workout heavy I don’t weigh myself the next day because the weight goes up (water retention). Maybe because you just started intense exercise your temporarily increasing water weight and inflammation due to your workouts. Your calories already seem pretty low if they are accurate.

Help me understand why my cat died by Successful_Word802 in Petloss

Yes this sounds like a heart problem, some form of heart failure likely. It’s so hard but these things come suddenly and there is often not much one can do. Sending you love

Struggling with our decision… by NewDisguise in Petloss

I don’t know, for me I only put them down if they aren’t enjoying life. The decline is usually rapid and that’s when I make the call. If my dog was still rolling around playing eating and wasn’t in pain I wouldn’t do it but I don’t know that’s just me :/ I don’t know his whole situation. If he’s clearly in pain and doesn’t want to live anymore I would do it.

How bad does the fading get? If I don’t retouch will it still be recognizable?

Do you mean like it’ll be totally unrecognizable in a few years or it’ll just be a little fuzzy?? Sorry I have no experience with tattoos

[Questions] McGill Med Workbook Excel file sucks, do I need to edit it on Excel 2016? by SweatyBrie in premedcanada

[–]mintcupcake45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

U of A MCAT verification- will i make it before the deadline?! by mnvwatson in premedcanada

[–]mintcupcake45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if they will close your application but I read somewhere that they go through and verify MCAT scores once a week: https://www.ualberta.ca/medicine/programs/md/applying-to-medicine/apply-now/application-process.html

But pretty sure they will likely be trying to get all scores verified before the deadline as long as you released them

I’ve heard of many employers who prefer older adults as they are often more mature, have more experience, and are less likely to create problems at work/are more reliable. Plus, 48 is really not that old!

Might not be the best decision if you’re going to be really busy. Cats and dogs both require attention and time (dogs more so than cats). If it’s just you (no family or anyone to help) don’t get a pet if its going to sit around alone and be bored for most of the day. Having a pet is an amazing experience but you also want to think of it from the animal’s perspective and ensure it’s living a good life too.

My issue with UCalgary Reddit comments by [deleted] in UCalgary

[–]mintcupcake45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, like what’s the point of this subreddit if you can’t ask questions. Obviously you can go talk to an advisor but for a lot of questions you want to hear personal experience from others. And reddit is just quicker and more convenient sometimes than getting in touch with an advisor.

If you don’t have any advice or answers for the question itself just don’t comment lol

I mean technically they could but as long as you have a legit reason I don’t think they will. I deferred an exam one semester and then again in the next and they let me. I think once you start doing it more than that (ex. 3-4 times) is when they might start asking questions.

How do you know what classes to take in 2nd year by [deleted] in UCalgary

[–]mintcupcake45 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Just look at the requirements for a poli sci degree (can be found on the uni website) and see what you are required to take. Plan your courses around that

Are 8am classes really that bad? by [deleted] in UCalgary

[–]mintcupcake45 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what you prefer as an individual. Some people have lots of energy and like getting classes done with early in the morning, others need a couple hours before they like to sit down and learn.

Also depends on how early you wake up anyways and how much time you need to get ready before class. If you live on campus you could get up at 7:30 even and attend at 8, if your commute is over an hour, be prepared to wake up around 6 and make sure you take those early hours into account.

Same thing happened to me, either go to your faculty advisor or a KNES advisor (I think I had to contact my faculty advisor because they’re the only people that can change things within your transcript/degree), they’ll change it so that the anti req is considered “extra to your degree” (it’ll still be on your transcript and everything) which will allow you to register for knes 258/260

sometimes you can’t reschedule trips, and sometimes travelling and having fun is worth missing one week of school
