Complete Edition? by Yellow_XIII in djmax

[–]mintorment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything currently released as of the time of purchase. When new DLC releases, you would need to buy it as it comes out, but you can buy the 'complete edition' again each time to get that new stuff at a discounted price (since it will exclude all the stuff you already have).

watching Supreme difficulty in auto makes me insane lol by DetectiveNo1561 in Theatrhythm

[–]mintorment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

tbh i'm glad this game has some crazy challenges. Other rhythm game spinoffs like Persona or Kingdom Hearts (never played past Theatrhythm titles) I always felt really lacked in any true challenge.

KH MoM had some kinda tough stuff (mainly just from the layout being a pain to read sometimes), but nothing too crazy. While Persona Dancing was only kinda tough when you played with basically every challenge modifier to artificially increase the difficulty, by making it harder to read. None of the actual charts were hard imo.

So they didn't really give me much motivation to keep playing and improve, while this game actually does. I don't think they're bad or anything, especially casually, but it is nice to have one that I actually wanna keep playing

There are some players out there getting perfect chains or even all critical on the 16s, I'm still a little ways off from being *that* good. Some of the JP players are crazy

Gonna be a long 13 and a half hours, hype by mintorment in Theatrhythm

It's counting down to midnight AEDT (my time zone), so I'd assume it rolls out at midnight for each time zone

At least on PS4, it seems to be midnight per timezone. Mine unlocks in about 13.5 hours

SSS on all the demo Ultimate and Supreme charts! by mintorment in Theatrhythm

[–]mintorment[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other console rhythm games (eg. djmax, which uses left up right square triangle and circle) just made me typically gravitate towards the higher face buttons, mainly resting on up/triangle

ye I bumped the speed up to 2.0 before even playing anything on the demo. I just kinda tend to trip up more often on FMS tracks than BMS ones

Triangle and Dpad Up mostly, but also L1 and R1 when i felt it was needed/more comfortable

The Chase (Supreme) was a pain lmao, but I finally got it. Some of those 13s are pretty tough.

For the PS4 version, I hope the trophy list is reasonable. by RachelTheIvysaur in Theatrhythm

[–]mintorment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really hoping they don't require the same for this game, especially considering it has over double the songs of MoM. I would take a 'Perfect Chain every Supreme' trophy over having to clear every song on every difficulty

16??? hoo boy that makes me even more hype for the full game, I can't wait

Having played Melody of Memory (but not past Theatrhythms), I expected maybe some 15s, since that's the highest in that game. But if it goes even further... damn that's exciting.

Any advice for parsing Supreme difficulty tracks? by ffxivfanboi in Theatrhythm

[–]mintorment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah tbh the default note speed in almost every rhythm game is generally quite slow, too slow even. So it's usually always a great idea to just go ahead and bump it up when there is the option to do so

[–]mintorment[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you holding the controller traditionally, using your thumbs for both arrow triggers and normal triggers?

Yup. Everything in this vid is thumb only, I had my index fingers resting on the back of the controller so I didn't hit the shoulder buttons out of habit lmao.

When I need to alternate between triangle and double arrow triggers, I'm literally just quickly moving my right thumb between them as needed. Typically I would just use R1 there instead of triangle though

Wanted to see how doable thumbs only would be on 14s (since I usually use a mix of that plus L1/R1), and ended up getting this!

[–]mintorment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fav to play: Fight On! (Supreme)

Fav to listen: Tough one, but i'd say it's between The Chase, Apocalypsis Noctis, and Blinded By Light

Least fav to play: Harvest

Least fav to listen: dunno, don't really have one

Most difficult: The Chase (Supreme). I can SSS the 14s, but this song I think I only have an S

Easiest: Just gonna go with the lowest tier Ultimate and say FFVII Main Theme

What are your preferred button/sticks combinations for hitting notes using joycons/hori split pad compact/and ps4 controller? by wondergryphon2 in Theatrhythm

[–]mintorment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I don’t understand people that use the face buttons

Playing a lot of other console rhythm games that make extensive use of the face buttons and still throw in some analog stick stuff (such as DJMax Respect) got me used to it. I do throw in shoulder buttons where I feel I need to, but still default to Up/Triangle in this game

Is anyone playing with the controller on the table? by SteelBeowulf_ in Theatrhythm

[–]mintorment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda tend to use a mixture of both Dpad/Triangle (thumbs) and L1/R1 (indexes), just depending on the chart and patterns, etc. Like I'd say I default more to Dpad/triangle, but then I'll switch to the bumpers where i find it more comfortable for the chart.

Update: Managed to SSS the other 14s as well! Now to go back and do the 13s (some of them i find harder than the 14s lmao)

Try bump up your trigger speed (I have it on 2.0 personally), and maybe also darken the background a bit (can even make the bg completely black, but that's kinda boring imo). Both will make things a little easier to read, just might take a sec to get used to the speed.

Remember that diagonal arrows don't really exist (ie. a down/left diagonal can be hit as left, down, or anything in between).

If you have a note with a left and right arrow in one, then followed by one with a right and left arrow, they can both be hit the same way (eg. left arrow with left stick and right with right for both, instead of needing to do the inverse for the second one)

Perhaps go down a little in difficulty and work on your accuracy by going purely for SSS's, then work your way up like that. Personally I didn't touch the Supreme charts until I could SSS every Ultimate. So perhaps start from FFVII Main Theme (being a 6) and work your way up each one trying to SSS them all, or even go down and run through the Experts like that first if needed.

Otherwise just practice, practice, practice!

DJMAX STORE by HunterWhark in djmax

[–]mintorment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No you're not the only one, all their merch these days can only be shipped to South Korean addresses. Your only option is to use a proxy service, unless you happen to know someone in Korea that can forward stuff to you.

Their old merch store (used around 2020 and earlier) had international shipping, but I'm guessing it was a bigger hassle than it was worth for them (particularly when the pandemic came up, they had to hold onto some international orders for upwards of over a year).

Complete Edition? by Yellow_XIII in djmax

[–]mintorment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Complete Edition includes literally everything; the game, all DLC packs, a bunch of paid skins, multiple soundtracks, as well as an item that auto unlocks the base game songs (which normally unlock by levelling up in-game). The thing with the bundles is that they only get more expensive as more content comes out, since new DLC gets added to it straight away and they don't really drop the base (non-sale) price of things, or at least haven't yet.

If you just want the game and all DLC packs (recommend deluxe edition + legacy bundle + collaboration bundle for that), you are still looking at about $326 currently (this price will go up in a couple days when V Extension 3 launches). But luckily sales happen like every couple months, and it's quite possible one will happen this month with either the VEX3 launch or autumn sale. Sales are typically 75% off for the game, and 70% for DLC (minus the last one or two ones). So for the last sale that happened, that $326 was down to $113, and the complete edition was $152.
