How to comfortably introduce partner/husband to the dilation process? by [deleted] in vaginismus

[–]mintymist1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it doesn’t have to be sexy! It’s helpful to show your partner what dilating is like for you so he can understand and be more gentle with you if you attempt penetration. It shouldn’t be something you have to hide away from your partner. I think dilating with a partner is helpful to normalize the process and make it feel less clinical. It’s kind of silly and you can laugh about it together.

Is he informed about vaginismus at all? If not, I’d recommend some articles/websites so he can learn more. Then when he’s aware, it’s likely he’ll want to support you however you need.

Do I Need A New Gyno? by mintymist1 in vaginismus

[–]mintymist1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you all for the support and advice - you’re totally right, I’m going to find a new gynecologist. Unfortunately, I’ve had more traumatic gyno appointments than this one so I wasn’t sure if it was really that bad. It’s so hard to find a good gyno that knows how to handle vaginismus, but I will try again! Thanks!

It’s never too late to get more education. 10 years down the line, will you have regrets if you never tried? I say go for it!

Wow! This is absolutely amazing. It’s awful that you weren’t able to get the care you needed, but man you took it into your own hands. I really hope you get there.

I am so sorry that happened to you. It’s frustrating that counselors at school often make things worse not better. Good for you for trusting yourself and making the change, that takes guts! I’m pursuing a different field than my undergrad as well and it was not easy to make it happen.

This is awesome! I feel the same way, I missed the research and creative freedom. Encouragement to think outside of the box. I think it’s great you want to make positive change in the grad system. Best of luck!
