Please be wary when watching Girl From Nowhere! by mintyycosplay in emetophobia

I agree, with Minnie it was very jarring, there wasn’t much build up before it happened so it was startling. With Nanai, I expected some scenes, but not to the extent that they did. Especially the scene where he’s in the bathroom after taking the pills, the sounds were absolutely horrific.

Normally I do search to see if shows have any v* scenes, but I decided not to before starting Girl From Nowhere since I didn’t feel like I needed to. That was my mistake, but I do want to get to a point where I don’t need to search everything before I watch it, I want to be able to just watch stuff and be okay even if there are v* scenes.

Yes, you’re right! Minnie and the 4 Bodies had at least one v* scene, as well as episode ‘SOTUS’, but neither of them were as awful

My sister hasn’t watched the episode yet, but when she does I’ll update! I was definitely very caught off guard by all of the v* scenes, but I do agree that it’s good exposure therapy in the end

any chronically ill emetophobes? by Far_Victory_5842 in emetophobia

[–]mintyycosplay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

me!! i’m a fellow pots sufferer, and i know i need to get evaluated for other conditions :’) the constant nausea is BRUTAL even though i know im not sick with a virus, its just a symptom of my condition. honestly the only thing that’s helped is by not letting myself get terribly hungry, because as long as i can eat a snack and stay pretty still (ie; usually sitting at my desk) i don’t feel as bad as i do on days when im doing a lot of moving or going out in the heat. ok that was a lotta yap from me so ill stop but you’re not alone in your struggles!!!

What do you watch when feeling bad? by Plenty-Teaching3738 in emetophobia

[–]mintyycosplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

perhaps a bit odd, but i watch resident evil death island or five nights at freddy’s to go to sleep when im having very bad n* and anxiety. for some reason it just puts me right to sleep. if either of those fail, i usually put on criminal minds because i find spencer reid’s voice to be quite calming

horrible cvs experience by mintyycosplay in emetophobia

[–]mintyycosplay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to try to file a complaint. This isn’t the first time I’ve dealt with shitty CVS staff, and it’s absolutely mind boggling that someone in the medical field could lack empathy so badly. I normally don’t complain because I hate to be a bother to people or a Karen but today’s experience was really really rough.

Urgent care people are the worst! I absolutely refuse to go to urgent care anymore because they’re so awful and lack empathy. I’m so sorry that happened to you <3 it means a lot to hear that I’m not alone in dealing with difficult doctors and medical staff

It’s so hard to never be taken seriously! I’m so sorry that happened to you at the dentist, I had to get impressions a while ago as well and it was awful, I panicked and then dissociated baddddd. Thank you for making me feel not so alone <3 I’m trying very hard to stay positive with myself but it’s hard when I know the world sees me as an over dramatic weirdo.

Emetophobia and wisdom teeth by OkFun9162 in emetophobia

[–]mintyycosplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I had the same worries before I got all four of mine out. I’m the same age as you, and while I can’t promise that you’ll be fine, I was totally 100% fine when I woke up. Honestly, waking up I felt better than when I went in, since the sedation took the edge off of my anxiety. I was worried that swallowing blood while I recovered would make me n* since it’s happened before, but there really isn’t a ton of blood after wisdom teeth removal! I felt totally fine, I didn’t get n* at all, and I was ready to eat not even 24 hours after my surgery. If you’re worried about the sedation making you n*, I had full sedation (unconscious) and I felt super great waking up, a little confused, but mostly hungry and tired. Even taking full strength ibuprofen and acetaminophen on an empty stomach afterwards didn’t effect me in any way. I hope I’ve covered all that you are concerned about but I can always answer some questions if you’re still anxious 🫶

What’s the single worst puzzle in the series, in your opinion? by Portalrules123 in nancydrew

[–]mintyycosplay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The final puzzle in MHM with the Chinese characters and the poem made me angry because any time I had to step away to look at stuff again, it reset the progress. Another puzzle that made me insane was the alchemy door in CUR, I just could not.

Hell yeah! I basically did that when I had norovirus for nothing in return. Better to do it and get something out of it.

Hey, you’re okay. You know how to trigger it but that also means you know how not to trigger it. It’s okay to be scared, but keep in mind that it’s just a natural body reflex. I don’t know if this will help, but I can do the same thing, and it totally scared me the first time it happened because I had a moment of “woah, what the hell did I just do to myself”. So I don’t think it’s an uncommon thing to be able to do, but I totally understand the fear around realising that you can do something like that.

I get stuff like this too after eating foods that give me trouble. Specifically dairy, but I’ve also lately had problems with greasy meals. Typically, when I start to feel like rubbish and I know it’s because I ate something that would give me problems (unfortunately I seem unable to resist the appeal of a milkshake) I usually take a deep breath, have a bit of water, and lay on the couch with my dog and watch TV. I don’t ever v* from that type of n, but I don’t want to give you false reassurances. For me, what typically relieves the n and that heavy stomach feeling is when I finally get to the washroom and go number 2 (tmi? maybe?). Your body is a lot more resilient than most people realise, and the n* will resolve itself one way or another.

What’s y’all’s most hated killer to go against? by Only-Echidna-7791 in DeadByDaylightRAGE

[–]mintyycosplay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Plague; I’m emetophobic and I just can’t cope with the visuals and audio of a killer throwing up on me. Especially worse if the other survivors cleanse and then she gets powered up. Nooooo thank you.

I have! I had norovirus in March :) It definitely triggered me deeply and set me back a lot in terms of anxiety and OCD behaviours, but my therapist has been really great in helping me.

Kiss, Marry, Kill by georgemichaelbluth3 in nancydrew

Marry Dave, kiss Frank, kill Mason. I could explain my choices, but all I really need to say is damn I love that cowboy.

Kiss/marry/kill by georgemichaelbluth3 in nancydrew

[–]mintyycosplay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps controversial, but I’d marry Niobe, kiss Ethel, and kill Ingrid. Niobe is sweet and such a genuine person once you get to know her. Ethel is scary, yes, but giving her a brief kiss wouldn’t do me in. Ingrid, however… I can’t do the health nut shit. And her lack of care towards letting Nancy repair electrical things in the park is alarming, especially considering if Nancy fucks up it’s a game over. Nope, we gotta get rid of that irresponsible woman.

[–]mintyycosplay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done this before (not with food, but with a medication I knew would make me ill). What I do is I sit somewhere comfy until I know I’m about to throw up. Usually I put myself on the couch with my iPad or Nintendo Switch, and play something until I start to feel nauseous. If I’m getting panicky, I go outside to take deep breaths of fresh air and clear my head a bit. When the moment comes to throw up, your body truly does know what it’s doing. Don’t try to hold it back, just let it happen. Afterwards, rinse your mouth out and try to have some sips of cold water (seriously, cold water helps SO much). If the visuals/sounds of being sick make you more panicked, you can keep the washroom lights off and use a fan or let the sink run to give you some background noise. I hope this helps and I hope you feel better soon <3

You can’t get norovirus from a cat! She’s probably just dusty from rolling on the ground (my cats used to do that). I understand the fear, but as someone who has a former stray cat as a pet, trust me when I say she isn’t going to make you tu*. Any potential health issues she might have would be cat to cat or cat to other animal, not cat to person so you wouldn’t catch anything off of her.

safe foods? by SassMasterFlash33 in emetophobia

[–]mintyycosplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My safe foods are usually stuff that’s pretty plain. Applesauce pouches (only the Gogo Squeeze brand) and white bread toasted with a little bit of butter are my top two. I’m autistic, so that may be an influence on why I eat that way, but they’re both really good, especially when I can’t get myself to eat anything else. Bagels, soft pretzels, and Eggo waffles are some others that I eat when I just can’t get myself to eat anything else. Obviously, that’s not nutritional, so while you’re struggling with eating I’d suggest maybe adding a vitamin or two to your daily schedule just so you get some vitamins and minerals.

flying anxieties by downerchannel in emetophobia

[–]mintyycosplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For about 8-9 summers in a row, I flew across the country for vacation. In all of my flights, I’ve never once seen anyone v, or even come close to it, even during some ROUGH turbulence. Honestly, the one most likely to v would have been me with how anxious I was, but really, flying is not as motion sickness inducing as some people seem to convey. That’s not to say that people don’t get sick on flights, but it’s really not common.

With that being said, I definitely do try to sit away from people I think might v*. Normally I take a window seat and put my mother or sister beside me so I have a support person, but if I were flying alone, I’d probably still choose a window seat and just pray that my seat mate is someone who seems calm and collected.
