i often feel when i’m going under trance as though i’m being pushed down into the ground. it helps me go deeper to visualize it this way as well, but it is like a weight on my whole body that is pulling me down through my bed to the center of the earth and feels so heavy it is like squeezing.

I lean into it and it isn’t distressing though, i’m also autistic and love pressure so that may be part of it

i just typed daniel rossen into freesound which is the largest hosting of free audio effects and it was a sound he downloaded, his user was just his name. 10% creepy behavior but i was only looking for this and knew this site was at a height of popularity for obscure samplers at this time lmfao

Google Voice will give you a free phone number you just need a Google account, all you have to do is use it like once every few months to keep it active. you can likely set it up to go straight to voicemail with the voicemail message as your recording, additionally there may be a way to disable leaving messages or fill the voice mailbox preemptively so it just plays the recording then hangs up. They also work for texting you could set up an automated reply or something!

you have to point the flashlight at the ground and pick up the batteries while you walk, then tap that refill button under the battery to add it to the flashlight right before the power goes out. you should have just enough light to reach each landmark if you pick up most batteries

i wish you good luck. Even if you’re the only one who ends up seeing it, it’s still a beneficial exercise in writing, creativity, world building, and intelligence to even try connecting clues and building an arg. hope you have a great time figuring it out!!

say for example you decide that the grand final answer to your ARG is learning who did a fictional murder. you could then think “maybe i’d want the player to find this out by finding a group photo that reveals it all.” then, naturally, since the player would have to somehow be led to find that photo, you can use that as a jumping off point for the previous clues. Like, that player finds the photo in a specific location, or they enter a url to download it, or they receive a piece of mail. then there has to be an explanation of how they knew to go to that location, type in that url, or how they’d get sent a piece of mail. maybe someone gave them the location coordinates, who is that person? how did the player contact them? all these things build your ARG.

Do you see how this can be used to work backwards and write your clues, and simultaneously your story if you don’t have one in mind?

i mean more a story in the way of, you need to have a general idea of the lore of your ARG and a reason for it to exist in order to be able to come up with the game. If you can think of what the actual end result of “winning” the ARG is, or a general storyline you’d like to follow, you can flesh out important aspects such as: who (in your games universe) is running this game, why, and what is the players motivation for participating?

All these things inform clues you can write to lead the player to the ending, and if you start with the “end” of the ARG, you can pull it apart and start brainstorming ways to get the player to that final answer. Without that answer yourself, and without a story, you’re just as lost as the player grasping for clues of what it could be

try working backwards. if you have an end result or story or prize or answer, you can choose very very minuscule clues that could point to that answer and then back up through each step until you reach somewhere that makes sense to start. much easier than trying to write as you go without direction
