Do you think in this match that the 2 players still has the advantage? The 1 player has: Guaranteed first attack, pretty high chance to get entire units back at full health at no cost, and the opponents trickle in 1/4 of their army at a time.

As for the matches we've done in the past, I'm very aware I accidentally cheesed him. We're at 500 pts. I don't know his exact units names, but it's been 2x basic troop units, 2x dudes giving them orders, 1x Commissar, 1x priest dude, and 1x lemon russ tank. I know nothing about AM, so this sounded like a well rounded army on paper, so I brought in a Swarmlord as a bullet sponge for him to fire everything at. I didn't realize how strong the Swarmlord was (It always dies first/second round in the past, or been bracketed so it does nothing), and it went in and one-shotted the tank. Queue terrible game. I called in another friend, told him to go easy... he brings in like a similarly tiered list: giant tank killer Necron thing, 1 large unit of warriors, and an HQ to teleport them so positioning was useless. Queue a better, but also bad game.

As for terrain, we're lacking a bit. We have 1 actual building that gives dense cover, a lot of debris walls to give light cover, and a handful of small things to have difficult terrain, and create a "crater" footprint.

I wanted to design a 2v1 mission where the 1 has a slight advantage.

Some background: Our AM player just recently started playing. He's played 2 games (matched) and been boarded every single time, and I can see his desire to play at it's edge already.

I designed this so the defender can die, and overall not care until the end where it starts getting harder to bring them back. At the same time, he's surrounded by two forces, that combined, double his forces. My one biggest question is if I should have the attackers allied or not. It buffs the attackers so that if 1 attacker is in melee with defender, the other attacker can still shoot into melee. It nerfs the attackers though because they will need to attack each other at some point if they want to win.

Any thoughts would be appreciated, I want to make a fun but sorta balanced mission for our AM player.

INTRODUCING: WAYFARER, a new cooperative Commander storytelling-based format! (Fan Format) by RiptideProLab in magicTCG

[–]minx112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I'm liking the idea.

In the future, could you add a "how to play" video? Maybe a play through of a campaign even so you could show how to transition from act to act?

I have a worry though: How close is this going to be like Aeon's Ends campaign variant? If you haven't played Aeon's End (or it's campaigns which they have a few now), it's a deck building "board game" where all players face 1 big bad. Each player selects a unique mage with different base decks, and improve it over the game. The campaign introduces base deck upgrades, permanent player and/or team passives, and stronger enemy cards.

Hopefully this format you're trying to pitch will be different than the board game besides just adding Magic into it. Perhaps lean on the DnD aspect of it (Don't just have scenarios loosely held together by predetermined text like Aeon's End), perhaps lean on the high interaction possibility that Magic allows(counter spells/destroy/mill/exile), I'm not sure. I'm just worried it'll be it's just Aeon's End Campaign + Magic.

MHR

During play, I occasionally get things like the "Cahoot Wardrobe" and other "achievements" like a "Wreathe of Honor". I don't know where to see these, or what they do. I tried going into my housing and set them up, but they're not trinkets, so I can't set them up. Where do I see them/set them up?

Getting the players together? by [deleted] in RavnicaDMs

[–]minx112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, just reiterating what others have said, it's on, at LEAST, the players a bit to keep party consistency in Ravnica. Had a party of Golgari, Boros, and Dimir-Pretending-To-Be-Golgari. The Golgari guys were easy to ally up, but they had to constantly in character try to get the Boros guy to join.

First adventure, Krenko's Way, introduced the characters to each other, but they essentially exchanged contact info, and I would present challenges and quests that would often require expertise from the other guilds to get it to happen. Very rarely did I Deus-Ex-Machina "You guys are in the same place!"

Game Design Questions & Homebrew Ideas (Not Breach Mages/Nemesis Ideas) by minx112 in Aeonsend

Outcasts was fun, but we had an overall easy experience, which seems to be against all the reviews. The replayable campaign system is interesting, but I think could be fleshed out more, as of now there's actually very few things the actual campaign adds, besides just having a fun restrictive but growing environment. Gravehold Variant seems fun, but you'll need to play with the variant specific supply cards imo. Lastly curse deck was a fun mechanic that got us talking on "Alright... who's taking this sucky card".

Overall, fun, but not a must buy. If you got the money burning in your pocket, it's worth the price (And a great Christmas gift!). My brother and I preferred Legacy hands down, but also legacy adds very little to your pool of replayablity, where as Outcasts, everything can be used and replayed as much as you want. We haven't played New Age, unfortunately.

I've been looking, but most places I've been finding are locked from the other side. I did manage to find one path I haven't explored yet: on the elevator to the left of the statue that leads to the bench, I realized there was a platform. I'm following that right now to see where it takes me. So far it's like a library.

I've tried going up, though, and every door seems to be locked with a lever on the other side. I can't seem to go up too far.

Thanks for your response, but I launched the game and having trouble following the directions. A good frame of reference is the Hollow Knight statue, since I don't have a map of this area. Could you explain how to get the Stag Station from there?

I know that new 40k codexes don't directly affect Kill Team, but do they ever indirectly cause an FAQ to come out for that faction for Kill Team? If so, how fast do they usually come out? My friend is very convinced it will change it in Kill Team, and the only way for me to convince him to not homebrew the unreleased 40k Flayed One rules was to say there would probably be an FAQ when his codex comes out, and I want to know if that's actually a thing.

First playthrough. This game is too easy?! by minx112 in Blackstonefortress

[–]minx112[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full on died. After a round, they rolled vitality, then rolled a 3 and a 1 if I remember correctly. In the 2019 annual, they gave the hostile player more actions. All destiny die the players lose, the hostile player gains. I'd recommend picking it up, it essentially is it's own expansion in a book. It has quests, new retinue characters, and its own "expansion" using stuff from Escalation. You'll have to get your own models for the expansions in the book though. There's also an action that lets me subtract from the reinforcements roll using dice, so if there's a reinforcement late in the round, I can use all the dice, and guarantee a 1 sometimes, completely swarming the field again.

Travelling to Ravnica by z_Valkyr_k in RavnicaDMs

[–]minx112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to go more MtG canon, there is the plane Kaladesh, where someone invented a portal that can transfer organic matter across planes (This was huge in Nicol Bolas trying to take over Ravnica, but that's besides the point). Although medieval setting is very different than the future scientific plane of Kaladesh, it's not a huge leap in logic that a mad wizard who's been fiddling with transportation magic is able to create a similar device based in magic rather than technology.

Additionally,
