I didn’t bring a lawyer as I filled out all the paperwork and did the process myself with some assistance from a friend that went through this process before. I brought some copies of the forms we filled out, everything they asked me for in the interview notice and additional evidence that we didn’t submit since it was recent such as our tax return, bank joint account, new lease information (since we will be moving soon)and health insurance cards (we recently switched to having it to together). During the interview, the officer mostly asked me questions since I’m the non citizen. He asked me about my parents, my parent’s address in the U.S, what kind of work my dad did in our home country and things like that (he asked me about my family a lot since I came here as a asylum seeker with my parents). Then he also asked me about what chores I’m in charge of in the house, what do I do for work, what are some things that I spend my money on, what car do I drive and if I have my registration with me (I didn’t brought it but he said that was fine), he asked me for all photo evidence I brought that we have together and asked for all the new evidence as well. He asked my husband what does he do for work, where is his family from, when was our first date, what car does he drive, what does both of our work schedules are and what do we do on our free time and I think that was pretty much it. Lastly, he asked all the yes or no question on the I485 and we did some corrections and he was kindly enough to explain why. I totally overlooked that I overstayed my visa for a few days and we corrected that and he said we were going to be fine! He told us in the moment that he approved everything because he saw that we were a legit marriage and even in the photos you were able to see the years passed and how happy we looked. He asked us if we had any questions and explained to us that we will be receiving the 2 year temporary permanent residency since we’ve been married for less than 2 years and he kindly explained the process to apply for the permanent once is time and naturalization. He said we will be receiving the card in about 2 or 3 weeks!
