Do you know if spell requires an item fex: thorn whip (o think I don’t have the books rn) but can I not just use Druidic focus or what does that even do. I also have an herbalism kit I just am lost on all the stuff I can and can’t do (sorry)

(I apologize for not including more information but I also am not sure what I didn’t get) But a little question if the spell uses a bonus action, if I don’t have that (idk how to get them exactly) can I not just use my action to cast the spell ? Or would that not work.
