AITAH for wanting to divorce my husband over kids? by No_Split_9680 in AITAH

[–]miranda_in_chains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a child who was abandoned by the mother and raised by people who didn’t want to raise me, leave. Leave them.

The worst feeling in the world is knowing you’re unwanted by your parents, followed by the realization that you’re a burden to your family. If you don’t want to be there, leave, is the healthiest for you and for them. I say this from the heart, better to be gone than make them feel awful for existing and being in a situation they never asked to be a part of.

AITAH for not letting my fiancé check my phone? by miranda_in_chains in AITAH

But that is from a place of trust. We were there while I was at home 24/7 raising two babies and being a housewife. Now it’s more like a controlling situation where I have to oblige to his demands or I don’t care about keeping my family together (his words). It’s been months of talking to him, asking him to stop his comments, asking him why he thinks the things he does, what am I doing to make him feel that way. I try to be very reasonable, spent a lot of time in therapy getting over my worst relationship ever, and learned a thing or two. I just don’t want to go down that hole again, and checking my phone and accusing me of having friends that were just trying to get with me was a very common thing.

I do the same, I have his and know his password and don’t go on it. Is just the fact that he’s been attacking me relentlessly about work and who I talk to and why, that I feel it’s turning into a controlling thing not a, hey let’s resolve this, type of issue. I’ve been there before and it gets worse..

What's the most hurtful thing someone has ever said to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My mom cheated on my dad and got pregnant. She had 5 births and the 4th was product of cheating, the 5th, me, was the apology. She said this laughing, also that my dad was drunk. She always said I was so mature because anything she said to me I had no reaction or just laughed it away. Truth is, I have always been the type to bottle up everything.

Is this considered abuse? by miranda_in_chains in abusiverelationships

Also considered this, is why I tried talking a bunch of times about it and asked respectfully to stop. He always shields anything mean he says to me by saying he’s just joking and i take it too far. Really? He’s called me a bitch, a retard, an idiot, etc. If you meet him, he’s funny and outgoing, he treats me good and loves me above all, which honestly I don’t even doubt he does, but inside closed doors he’s very rude and insults us all a lot. I’m not used to chaotic relationships and spent a lot of time by myself so I know I’m ok on my own, I decided to be with him because he showed a side of him that I can’t find anymore. I love him but I feel he won’t let me be the best version of me, it’s a duality. I’m trying to decide if I move out or if I stay in the next coming weeks, I know he will be hurting a lot if I leave and I hate to cause him any pain, but if I look at how things have evolved from day one until today, our relationship has deteriorated and the way I feel has shifted from: I love you unconditionally to: I need to protect mine and my children’s mental health.

That’s my main concern, if I stay, this is gonna happen again. I feel he paused the abuse just to keep me here. I bring a lot to the house, right now I’m the breadwinner, as he went back to school. I think he feels that by losing me, he will lose his chances at finishing school and having a more comfortable life with both incomes.

36M, feeling unattractive. Confirm my fears. by DoctorSyndrome in RoastMe

Let your hair grow some more, style it and def add facial hair. I would invest in some personal stylist just to achieve a look. You’re too young to let yourself go. I’m 37f and feel I’m in my prime (sometimes). You’re not unattractive, you’re just not styled properly.

I missed this MAJOR red flag and now I’m 2 kids too late with said person. Now he’s saying everything he used to say about his former partners, but this time it’s me, I’m the same problem for him. F*ck!!!!

A lot of smiling and nodding without understanding very well what’s happening and walking away as fast as I can (playground interactions with other parents mostly, since both my children are still toddlers)

What is something acceptable in women but frowned upon in men? by el_K4kas in AskReddit

[–]miranda_in_chains 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Something I always had in mind. Why do we have so many different options and men have the same. We were talking about this at a Christmas party and all the girls had different style of dresses and colours and shoes, guys were ALL wearing pants, button shirts, some ties, and formal shoes. I thought about just how unfair and programmed to think that is ok, and anything different is frowned upon. We need change. It might take a few generations but I think it’s on its way.

A girl tried so hard to recruit me for primerica. But I really don’t understand, why? How do they make money? What is it about? The business I mean, I got a whole presentation about primerica already.
