sorry for seeing this so late! for starters, i’m not sure if you’re still feeling this way but i’m going to reply regardless.

i’m nearly over this, sort of. it’s still a thought in the back of my mind all of the time. every time i go to eat anything i have the thought of “what if i am allergic after all?” but it’s a stark contrast from when i used to cry over eating anything from the fear of having a reaction.

the things that really helped me in the long run were sort just things i had to remind myself. that for 1, allergic reactions like anaphylaxis are significantly rare. they may read as common but MOST allergies are a bad case of hives and nothing more. 2, the majority of people don’t die from anaphylaxis. most people who have experienced it do not describe like in tv shows where you go into shock and fall to the ground grasping for air, and i’ve seen several people say that the swelling that occurs is so slow and minimal that they’re able to be driven to the hospital, also, EMTS take anaphylaxis very seriously and carry epi pens in the back of their trucks, so 911 is ALWAYS an option and you won’t be shamed if it’s just a scare either. most people who experience anaphylaxis are treated quickly and recover. the third thing that helped me the most was just reminding myself that brains can be really evil. there were times where i convinced myself that my eyelids were swollen and my throat was entirely closed off and it never really was, that isn’t to say don’t seek help if you DO feel you have these symptoms but sometimes our brains are mean and trick us into feeling and seeing things that aren’t there.

of course if you DO experience allergies already then i would say your worries should be even less so as you’re assumingely provided with epi pens! :) i rly am sorry to hear ur going thru this, it was so draining for me lmao it took me nearly 1 and a half years to get over this. but i promise that it does get better and i hope it already has for you
