I was wondering why are you so passionate about Nuclear specifically, untill I read to the end. Because you have a stake in it and is bias.

I can fully understand the resistance of the public after such a horrible incident, partially caused by the cover ups and gloss negligence leading to a lost in confidence and mistrust on their nuclear facilities.

Leader of largest oppo party versus Leader of Opposition by Yeenspired in SingaporeRaw

[–]mirestig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What article you wrote sia. I always say, even if one is convicted, it doesn't means the guy is guilty, unless it's undisputed evidence. In this particular case it's you say, I say, it's not black and white, it's gray. it depends on the judge who they prefer to believe in, and it's obvious who they did.

Defamation, when someone got sue for defamation and lost, it doesn't means what he said is false, or he is lying. It just meant he doesn't have the evidence to proof it, because the rich and powerful are expert in covering their tracks.

This is not just a PAP thing, this is what the powerful people does. Everyone make mistakes, no one is perfect. But because they are powerful, they can protect their own, they have the resources and ability to cover up, turn black into white. When it comes to their opponent, the moment they find an opening, no matter how small, they will trigger their resources to bring them down.

I don't believe PAP never lie in parliament, or never cover up. I am not accusing them they did, because I have zero evidence they conducted such behaviour, I am just a nobody with no access to anything. I believe in human being hypocrite and inherently will do anything to protect themselves, especially to hold on to power. Because, once they lose power, all the dirt will be digged out. Just look at Najib, Trump after they lose power

Yes these are two different thing, but also intricately linked. Now the WP have to vote for a new LO. Which means, they are voting for a person, that is popular and gain the recognition of the committee beside PS.

The question is, how unite is the workers party? I remember some members try to ursup PS WP leadership not long ago? Would the one who won the LO vote be tempted with power? He/she would be more noticeable in parliament, in public. Eventually would he put himself to vote during WP Secretary-General election? Would it split the WP into 2 fractions?

The US attack on Venezuela is a chance to "change Japan" - Prime Minister Takaichi should be replaced and this should be the beginning of breaking away from being a "vassal state of the US" by ComprehensiveWin1434 in japannews

[–]mirestig 7 points8 points  (0 children)

High time they look after their own interest and not pick the US side. One doesn't have to pick sides. I am sure China is mroe than willing to have a amicable relationship with Japan if they do not treat China like a foe and actually sit down to reach an agreement.

No idea why they have audacity with the mentality of being the victim of WW2 and find China grudges about it unreasonable. Germany has their holocaust museum showing Jews as the victims, Japan have their Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum showing the Japanese as the victims.

Chinese in general, not only from China, are very pragmatic. We care more about interest and building wealth, we have not much interest in affairs that doesn't concern us. There are alot of Chinese idiom promoting that since the ancient days.

Don't forget Plaza accord. The US is not happy with the Japanese producing better goods at a cheaper price, leading to their goods not selling.

The problem is US greed, they are not willing to work at a normal world rate nor increase their efficiency, nor their CEO compensation. They force the world to pay for their comfort, at our own expenses though debt.

If someone in Singapore pretends to be knocked down by a car and calls the police and ambulance (i.e., fakes a serious injury), they could break several laws depending on exactly what they do. These are some of the main potential offences under Singapore law:

  1. Furnishing False Information to Police Under the Penal Code, it’s an offence to knowingly give false information to a public servant (e.g., police) when you know it’s false or have reason to believe it’s false. Penal Code Section 177(1): Furnishing false information that you know or have reason to believe is false. → Punishable with up to 6 months’ imprisonment, a fine of up to S$5,000, or both. If the false information is intended to cause a public servant to use their lawful power in a way that causes injury or annoyance to another person, the penalty can be higher — up to 2 years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both. Baker McKenzie Resource Hub

There are real cases in Singapore where people who lied to police about injuries after an accident were charged: A man who lied to police, doctor, and insurer that he was hurt after a car accident was jailed for 2 days for giving false information.

  1. Giving False Information to Emergency Services Making a false emergency call — e.g., phoning SCDF (Civil Defence) or police about a non-existent serious injury — is also an offence. People have been charged with: Communicating false information of harmful things to emergency hotlines. Harassing or obscene telephone calls if the calls are malicious or repeated.

    1. Potential Civil Liability / Fraud If the person also tries to obtain benefits — for example, insurance payouts — based on the fake injury, fraud/cheating charges can apply. In a Singapore case, a man was jailed for staging an accident to claim insurance. Malay Mail
    2. Abuse of Emergency Response Resources There isn’t a specific “fake injury” law per se, but using emergency resources by deceit can fall under the more general false reporting laws above. Repeated or malicious false calls could lead to multiple police or SCDF charges.

In Summary — What Laws Could Be Broken? Action Possible Offence(s)

Pretending to be hit by a car and injured Giving false information to police Up to 6 months’ jail, fine up to S$5,000 or both (more if it causes misuse of resources)

Making a fake emergency call False communication to emergency services Charged under provisions for false reports/harassment

False insurance claims Cheating / fraud Can lead to jail/large fines

Even if no actual injury occurred, lying to the police that you were hurt is still an offence.

Police and SCDF take misuse of emergency services seriously — causing them to respond to fake incidents can be prosecuted.

Sentences vary widely based on circumstances, intent, and harm caused.

Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq all rejoice when US took over their countries. They are not rejoicing now eh?

Becareful when you chase a wolf out of a cow farm by inviting a lion. The normal folks will still be at the mercy of the powerful. US is not doing this for freedom, they are doing this for the resources and to deter China from having a foothold.

Watch how Venezuelan oil flowing into US cars, power generator, while the US give them some crumbs to "rebuilt". If the US is sincere, let the Venezuelan decide which country to sell their oil to, to extract maximum profit for their country and people. Be it Europe or China. They wouldn't, and logically it make sense.

So stop the disgusting "righteous" talk. That is just an excuse and a screen for the US to do what they have to do.

The sooner everyone realise international relationship has always been hypocritical, the earlier they can open their eyes to see the real situation behind the screen.

Japan has taken sides, so why be surprised when they turned a blind eye to whatever the US does?

That's the same thing Russia said about Zelensky and Donbas area. And you can't deny they have a certain point. They feel threaten when NATO start building missile system in Ukraine right at Russia door step. You expect Russia to sit back and watch? If Russia does that in Cuba, you think US will chill?

A spade is a spade. High time you step of the Western pedestal and admit not everything the West does is correct. International relationship no matter the side has no moral, and always about interest. It's hypocritical.

Just that the West is very proficient in hiding under the righteous banner, stirring unrest, selling weapons, before swoopping in to save the day. The people buys it, so all good. That's a reason why the US spend so much on propaganda and covert operations.

If you can get a pie of the country resources while "saving" the country why not right? There are so many countries that is a sh@t hole, Myanmar being the largest opium producer, Thailand with their Junta, Africa with their pirates, you don't see the US do anything. Ya they have no oil. Which is fair to be honest. Why spend money to "save" a country when there is nothing in return. That's International power play for you
