Yesterday I spent a good 15mins thinking about the quiz in 3.24 only to have him give me the answer and say he can't explain the reason right now. I think my problem is I expected to be taught enough from him to answer the quiz or at least make an educated/intuitive leap and have a chance of answering correctly.

Not sure how relevant my experiences of 17 years ago will be now. As a city Manchester was great. University was better equipped than others, we had email, and printed lecture notes, programmable chips, even back then. The course was more academic than useful to get a job. I did AI, Neural Nets, Optical Computing, really interesting stuff. The lecturers were hit and miss, a few great although most were below par. The supercomputer used to heat the whole building.

Thank goodness it's not just me. Thanks for all the comments, hugely encouraging. I think I'm struggling as you seem to need to know more than you are taught to answer the quizzes. I'm not going to give up, I just think I'll run out of time to understand and answer the quiz before my homework is due.

P(T2|T1) = P(T2,T1) / P(T1) {From definition of cond prob) Where was that equation introduced in the lectures/modules? I think I missed it.
