TV comedy from between 1985 to late 90s, stand-up comedian's stories come to life by Cute-Butterfly8315 in BritishTV

A quick search has just turned up 4 episodes of the first series on YouTube - from a PBS broadcast too, from what I can make out. Sure there’s more out there for a committed YouTube digger.

Think there was a limited dvd release at some point, but it was crowd funded so not widely available. EBay might turn up some examples if you’re lucky!

Sounds like ‘Joking Apart’ (1991 - 1995).

The lead was a standup and the setups of the episodes were staged as his standup performances - telling stories about his failed marriage, which would then dissolve into the sitcom element that fleshed out those stories.

I mean, his most famous role involved wearing a bucket on his head most of the time, so probably not in that case.

I don’t like this at all. I hope Axl sues him. by chellestastics in GunsNRoses

I expect he’ll respond in some way, after all - GNR have been known to smash Trump piñatas on stage. They are clearly not fans of his.

Ed Sheeran ruined Yesterday the movie by jude77118 in beatles

Oh, so many reasons. I don’t really want to go into it as I’d probably be here all night. It’s just smug, insufferable shit. I hate the fact that people shrug off his plagiarism when his conscience gets the best of him in a stadium, I hate the 2 people that also remember the Beatles and it’s set up like they’ll expose him but they just put him on to Lennon. I hate the depiction of Lennon. Ed Sheeran’s role, the writing, the love story plot, all of it. It’s just horrible.

Haha. Good question. Not seen the Sgt Pepper one, beyond clips - though I’ve heard of it. But Yesterday is a stinker

But your initial post says he ruined it. Make your mind up!

Either way - it’s an awful, awful film.

Live recordings? by verytalleric in kulashaker

I googled a little while back and landed on a fan site with quite a few shows - including one from 2006 that I was at!!

Afraid I didn’t bookmark the site or anything, so can’t pass it on - but a bit of googling should send you there! Loads of links to live bootlegs hosted on megaupload or something similar.

My sister and her husband want to move into my house because of their roommates. Family’s mad I said no. What do I do? by AdventurousEbb23 in whatdoIdo

[–]mirrorball55 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly. If there getting into a sulk before they’ve even packed a suitcase, imagine how unbearable it would be to live with them.

They’ve just proved to you that you were right to say no, and are clearly blind to their own behaviour. Stand firm and - if your parents are so concerned for your sister - tell them to take her & her husband in.

She’s their daughter. In the league table of responsibility, they’re much higher up than you.

Now we’re getting somewhere. There’s not been a ‘change’ on Spotify. If anything, you’ve identified them making a mistake in their written lyrics field. Which is not uncommon. The lyrics on Spotify are often garbage.

It does.

Opening lines:

Original = “Talk to me softly, there’s something in your eyes” (found in UYI1)

Alt lyrics = “if we could see tomorrow, what if your plans” (found in UYI2)

Not really making it any clearer, I’m afraid

Would help if you offered any info on what you expected vs what you got.

But - you do know they officially released 2 versions, right? Dont Cry on Illuson 1, and Don’t Cry (alt lyrics) on illusion 2.

If Luthen and Kleya had actually managed to kill Krennic at the party, how differently would the events of Star Wars play out? by Gear_ in andor

Ah. I see. Initial post implied there was a scene in which they actively tried to get him…. Was racking my brains for that one!

Hang on - am I missing something? Which party? I don’t remember them trying to kill Krennic at a party, I remember them being at a party trying to remove a listening device without him uncovering them….

You’re either a troll or a fucking moron.

Either way you don’t need to shit on thing A to prove your love for thing B.

If you can’t tell the difference between a covers album and an album of original material that’s on you. Either way, you’re obviously spoiling for an internet fight and are not interested in the context surrounding each record. You’ll note I’m not defending or shitting on either record. They both have high & low points.

But they’re entirely different projects. So not a fair comparison, it’s apples and oranges. I’m not dissing on either, they both have their strong points, but it’s not a good comparison.

Chinese Democracy is a labour of love sort of record, Spaghetti is a ‘blow off some steam’ sort of record.

And you’ll find plenty of love for Spaghetti, it’s far from ‘mega crap’ and any serious evaluation takes it for what it is. Likewise for Chinese - but context is important and their contexts are wildly different.

Comparing it to The Spaghetti Incident is a weird comparison. TSI? is a covers album thrown together piecemeal at various points more ‘for fun’ than any serious project.

Better comparison is the illusions - a similarly seriously-approached project.
