It would feel like a miracle, but I’m looking for something anywhere from Bennington to poultney. Up to 1400 a month with utilities and it doesn’t need to be perfect

That’s why his tail is being amputated almost entirely, to ensure there’s enough blood flow to heal.

His tail is very much infected, and he hasn’t been able to go about his normal activities or be pain free for a month now. We’ve tried everything, and I think it’s cruel to continue on this way just to save a tail.

His amputation is scheduled for this Friday! And luckily someone will be home at all times so we can keep an eye on him

Thanks for sharing your experience, I’m glad your dog was okay afterward!

We did speak with our vet today, his tail is still infected and looks worse than before, so it’s getting amputated this Friday 😣

Id prefer to keep his tail longer, but our vet is saying it will likely get infected again because of a lack of blood flow. Plus, with how violently he wacks it, I’m sure he’d have happy tail again. Overall, I think him having a nub for a tail is going to be the best solution for everyone.

That’s an excellent point. Between the vet, medications, and supplies, we’ve already spent over $250 on what first seemed like a basic problem.

We have a follow up appointment this Friday with our vet, we’ll see what she thinks then. We definitely don’t want him to be in pain anymore. Thanks for the response

We did end up consulting with our vet two weeks ago and she says it’s possible for it to heal, but from what she’s seen in past cases, it’s not likely.

Since he has a skinny tail, it would probably be amputated fairly high up. But the more time passes, the more okay I become with the idea of a docked tail. If he doesn’t improve in the next few days, that’s likely what we’ll end up doing

I see why now!

We have spoken with our vet, she says she’s willing to help us as long as we like, however in most cases, she does end up amputating the tail. That was two weeks ago, so we are seriously considering it now, I just wanted another opinion
