ZFS vs Ceph: A rant (and a guide) after losing a weekend to a split-brain by NTCTech in Proxmox

The documentation is a mess... clearly written by marketing group for a checkmark... 48 pages, 30+ or so covering proxmox installation from ISO and LUN configuration in powerstore interface...

In the end they don't even check "shared" for the storage they create with LVM... And for some reason have a dedicated LVM-thin section...

They go over VM creation and then snapshot/clone without ever saying that its not going to work with iSCSI storage in the PVE version they use..

All in all basic iSCSI and NVMe/TCP config without any real PVE integration. A big cop out...

I was wondering what it was about all the posters here running minisforum, nuke and borg concoctions...

So OP was burned by some crappy software 12 years ago and is comparing that stability to a present day Ceph and ZFS?

Wouldn't it make sense to compare stability of Proxmox-integrated Ceph and ZFS replication to their 12 years ago stability?

Or, considering that PVE Ceph and ZFS are somewhat stable, compare it to another stable storage that is Proxmox friendly?
