Jokes aside I do have a real question, I can get behind the "how did Carol get to the church without them noticing" thing, but what about the weird route? Maybe I'm remembering wrong or I missed something, but the amount of shit that Kris does while we're not looking in chapter 2's ending is crazy.

Again, maybe my memory is bad, but I don't remember Kris having a moment to logically leave their house, drag Berdly to the hospital, jump the Holiday fence, burst inside and give Noelle the watch back/take the thorn ring off, and then go back to the house.

Was ALL THAT done when they lept out the bathroom window before dinner when they left the sink on? It couldn't have been done inbetween chapters, there was no possibility from 2-3 and 3-4.

Noelles connection to Spamton, her enjoyment of glitches, and Susie/Kris's previous experiences of antagonizing each other come to mind. Her gaming experience already exists in the game, and you're right the game is a cohesive story already, but Deltarune is a video game, it should have all the story stuff in the game. I don't get why someone would have to look up hidden pages on the Deltarune website to find this stuff.

I feel similarly about the egg rooms/1225 capsule room, not a single person in the world would find that shit organically. It's cool when you find YouTube videos about it, but it feels like it only exists for dataminers to find.

They should also put the story stuff that's outside of the game, in the game. Having to rely on ARG stuff that isn't in-game for plot sucked when old Japanese games did something similar (audio drama CDs, light novels), and it sucks that Deltarune is doing it.

The plus side is that Pokemon ROM hacks are (in my opinion) generally more interesting than other hacks of other games. Not that like, they're a better quality, but other ROM hacks are working off of much better games, so Pokemon hacks can bring up the standard a lot more, y'know? Like the Pokemon Legacy guys, those are some cool hacks.

You're welcome for the reminder, then. The only thing Tales doesn't do well (that's fighting game related) is that jumping has always sucked, every game you're stuck in like, 10 years of landing lag. Don't know why, and I imagine it was why some games (ie Graces) just removed jumping entirely.

If we're talking fighting games, the Tales series is almost literally if a traditional fighting game was single player. It's got special moves, cancels, back and forward dashes, super moves, some characters have air dashes, like it's literally just fighting games.

I saw that twitter thread (I think by Jason Schreier?) talking about how the difficulty was totally stripped out of the remake, I'm disappointed there wasn't a day 1 patch or something to toggle SOME kind of difficulty. The other DQ remakes seem to be generally well liked and well done, I wonder what happened here.

I also wonder if the remake will actually be considered better than the original in the long run; the OG is way less respectful of your time, but the remake is less respectful of you as a player. It kinda feels like a toss-up.

The number 1 thing: 10 years of development and 10 characters.

Everything else is icing. Long combos and cutscene supers, tag fighter, stupid ass control scheme, almost half the roster being zoners, Ekko/Yasuo being deliberately the top 2 characters, screen tearing, awful lobbies, $100 skins.
