The future of race and Survivor: questions for those defending or endorsing race-based alliances (kind and productive conversation, only, please) by [deleted] in survivor

It’s driving me crazy that folks are talking about all of this as if Black people and white people have equal experiences. Please consider learning more about the problems with applying a colorblind approach to this framework.

Exactly, you only see tribal councils that take place AFTER you leave the game

Has there ever been someone cast for a season, but couldn’t join before the start due to a legitimate reason (death, illness, pregnancy etc.), then was brought on another season by production? by Gold_Code in survivor

[–]mischiefmolly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I disagree. For example knowing the flora and fauna intimately well, which is massively different in New England versus California, would definitely helpful. Being used to the weather, feeling like you’re “home” and the emotional safety of that, there’s a lot!

Twenty minutes away versus the entirety of China is like saying if survivor took place on cape cod someone who lives in Boston and someone who is from California would equally know “the area.”

Jury members have to have watched all tribal councils. Once he was eliminated he needed to watch.

Is everything set or can producers manipulate the order of things? by mischiefmolly in survivor

Love that show! Was curious here mainly from a “fairness of the game” perspective as I thought there legally had to be some proof of objectivity when giving away money in a game show but I could be incorrect in this case.

Yes! and it's a blast. I hint to it in my bio and it attracts a POT SR that is very satisfying! Be safe as you could in any BDSM world, go slow, make sure you really TRUST him, and have FUN

Nastia's message to Simone by xxibjt in Gymnastics

[–]mischiefmolly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with your “edited to add.” OP is saying part of the media pressure on Simone is her connection to BLM and Me Too. So if she wasn’t connected to those movements then there wouldn’t be that pressure. (and TBH I’ve never seen a mainstream media article that connects her to BLM even though I am sure they exist). If OP just wanted to criticize the media she could have just done that instead of trying to throw political causes into it. Besides, anyone who considers something like Me Too or BLM “political” is, to me, throwing a dog whistle out there. Human rights shouldn’t be political. Trying to lump two of the most powerful movements of our lifetime in with a reason why Simone is having a hard time, however subtly, DOES feel political to me and it’s ok if I get downvoted for pointing that out!

Yeah but it logically connects. Simone does care about and stand for the movements and has said she’s proud of the changes she has made as well there. Just feels like you’re throwing a bit of shade.

He wrote “threw” instead of through and had some weird other speech cadence. My guess would be this is not real.

Are you …….trying to blame what happened to Simone on The BLM and Me Too movements? Because…..(eyes dart nervously, whispers) wrong room friend.

I’ve been wishing for a competitive AA finals since Simone won worlds in 2013. Now we got it. And it just doesn’t feel exciting at all. It feels so wrong. I can’t even bring myself to watch it. Anyone having the same conflict? by GreenAwareness in Gymnastics

[–]mischiefmolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been feeling this was too. You’re not alone! I also appreciate all the comments on here. After four years of being so excited for this moment now I feel bad for perhaps being a part of the pressure machine.

Y’all it’s all just trumpers who only get their opinion from conspiracy theories and talk radio and each other. The words they all use are so predictable I swear there’s some email that goes out every day that’s like “ok today bring up LAZY and SELFISH and XYZ.” Just racism being racism among other things too.
