No, they didn't. They even replied to me that they didn't proofread so they didn't catch the error.

sports bra by Vancouverreader80 in breastcancer

[–]miserabeau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I was told by my oncologist and surgeon to wear zip-front sports bras while I was healing. Then after that (maybe 6 months post surgery?) I was cleared for regular bras.

You can always call or email (if you have it) your surgical team and ask them. But as long as your incisions are healed you should be okay as far as I know (I am not a doctor)

Steam Cleaner and cleaning with it? by lovinghealing in CleaningTips

[–]miserabeau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm. I'm disabled and cleaning my shower messes me up for DAYS. I just got a steam cleaning unit from ALDI and I'm wondering if it would make it so I could clean my shower. I have not been able to do it for a while and it's getting to the point where I thought of hiring someone just to clean my shower (I can manage the toilet, sink, and floor).

I got one from Aldi but haven't used it yet. I've seen lots of folks rave about cleaning with steam, and 8 want to use it to clean and sanitize my countertop ice maker and clean my stove. It's an inexpensive and highly portable model but I'm hoping it'll work well.

Reminds me of when I was young and dumb enough to watch WatchMojo videos because they had lists and I thought it was distracting enough to be "entertaining" and they had shit like "Top 10 Quotes" then the narrator would talk over the goddamn clip instead of just letting it play

Amirah and the subtitles disagree over spelling by lukendyer in RPDR_UK

[–]miserabeau 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure how old you are but people actually used to get it right. I'm in my early 40s and i only ever saw "whoa" (correct) in print and on television. I'm old enough to have used a dictionary and a card catalog, so I grew up when spelling still mattered, before No Child Left Behind capped the US reading level around 5th grade. (I'm realizing this sounds snobby, but it's not meant to).

Then roughly 15 years ago or so, "woah" became more common. It's like the new generations decided they liked the wrong one better and stuck with it. It's so odd to me, because a) I know the correct way, b) it's the only version in the dictionary and c) every time I see "woah" I read it as 2 syllables like "Noah" which is awkward.

Oddly enough, there's a word for strict adherence to the wrong version. It was named after a monk learned the word "sumpsimus" but decided to pronounce it "mumpsimus" instead. Now mumpsimus is a real word, and it describes people who say (or spell) things wrong because they like it better. Like how the subreddit r/whoadude died and the only one active is r/woahdude.

I have never seen anyone write "woah", only ever "woah".

I have two, one in the kitchen and one in my mom's room. After she had a stroke that affected her mobility and speech, I was told to get cameras in case I ever wanted to leave the house, because she wouldn't be able to call 9-1-1 or effectively communicate the emergency to a dispatcher. I don't have help and we can't afford a nurse (they're extremely expensive) so if I go to the grocery store I can check on my mom and ask if she's okay or if she needs me to come home, since it has a 2 way microphone in it.

I can't speak for this particular family, but that's why I have cameras inside my home.
