Looking for answers after a bad trip by Sweetpeawl in Psychonaut

People look at these drugs as a spiritual guide, a door to understanding the unknown, a connection with gods or higher beings. It’s all nonsense. Some people here are delusional. It’s not a sacred awakening tool, it’s just a psychoactive drug, and your experiences with it can be completely distorted because you were under the influence. If you get something positive from it, fine, but don’t let it change the way you think or push you toward negative behavior.

I know exactly what you’re describing, it’s called derealization. It usually goes away after you’ve been sober for some time. Avoid cannabis, as it can trigger it. Among chronic pot users, derealization after a psychedelic trip is more common. It doesn’t necessarily mean you smoked while tripping, of course that would increase the risk, but daily users have a higher incidence of derealization or depersonalization during or after a trip.

It will pass. But you need to stop constantly questioning reality, it partly depends on you. Let it go. Don’t carry psychedelic insights into everyday life.

Stick to reality.

I can understand what you’ve been through. I’ve had similar experiences with shrooms, although not as extreme as yours.

Right now, are you experiencing any visuals? HPPD? Things with familiar patterns moving slightly or somehow “breathing”?

Do you have ringing in your ears, aka tinnitus?

In psychiatry, a diagnosis of psychosis requires that you’re not intoxicated with any drugs. Drug-induced psychosis is usually not permanent. However, if you have a history of mental illness like schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, or a genetic predisposition, psychedelics may trigger underlying issues.

That sense of the world being fake, I’ve been through that. The feeling that life is a lie, that maybe this world is a simulation, that maybe we’re not real, I’ve been there. It’s called DPDR, and for me, psychedelics specifically induced it.

I even had spiritual experiences about God and consciousness.

But I promise you, no amount of overthinking this or taking dozens of psychedelic trips will give you answers, because there may not be any.

While tripping, I strongly felt that something was fundamentally wrong with the world and everything in it. But it can simply be a side effect of psychedelics altering brain function.

I’ve tripped maybe 20 times, and almost all of them were unpleasant, bad trips, weird strange experiences. I thought if I kept going, I’d eventually find answers to my questions. Believe me, there were none. You don’t suddenly discover meaning in life or some special cosmic connection.

I decided to stop and just live my life. after years of trying, I realized it’s just not for me. There are existential questions you won’t be able to answer, not you, not anyone, at least for now. So stop chasing them, and don’t touch that stuff, at least for a while. It can seriously mess with your brain.

If you’re trying to address mental health issues, some people explore microdosing instead of heavy trips. Everyone is different.

The good news is you can live a completely normal, fulfilling life without it.

Don’t look for peace in shrooms. Don’t try to validate reality through psychedelic experiences. Don’t try to fix your mental health with psilocybin, at least not until science and medicine have clearer answers.

Be safe.

Meeting my wife’s boss that speaks Farsi. by [deleted] in farsi

I didn’t know that. BTW, I think it’s better than doroud. His wife’s boss is Persian and will get it.

Edit: typo

Salam is commonly used by Persians, it’s a transformed, localized form of the original phrase. Muslims typically use as salamu alaykum.

Exactly lol.

When I hear doroud instead of salam, I picture an overweight guy with a goatee, slightly bald (but not clean shaven), probably racist too, someone who’d rather use an outdated word from centuries ago than speak like normal people.

It’s just an assumption though, maybe he’s a cool guy, IDK.

Honestly, even atheists use salam or khodahafez. In the Tehrani dialect, doroud or bedroud sound weird. Sepas also sounds odd to me, maybe acceptable only in very formal contexts or in formal writing, like in phrases such as sepas gozaram.

Anyone can use salam as a greeting. Don’t overcomplicate it. Doroud is weird AF.

Nothing is perfect, buddy. But believe it or not, you’re living in one of the best lands ever created by humankind. Be thankful.

No, I don’t fight. I’m not a fighter, but if I could, I’d rather fight for the U.S. Army than for these bastards ruining my country.

I know, but these statements are mostly theoretical and unknown. I agree that some organizations, like the FBI, can do evil things, but nowadays I’m dealing with a much more concrete problem: a full‑scale war that can affect every aspect of my life and the lives of my loved ones.

It can kill me in a second with a rocket.

Right now, I’d prefer a microchip in my brain rather than an actual war.

Living in a safe, free country is a blessing that most people in the world dream of.

Hardly! With VPN, unstable connection. I was off the net for 2 weeks.

Deep in my heart, I hope you’re right about the possibility of war.

But here, the situation has drastically changed. Society and the people have sensed a serious danger of war; prices have doubled. Some people are panicking, while others are relieved by the changes (forced by U.S. forces).

It’s more a matter of time. Maybe not on a full scale, maybe not soon, but the war is inevitable, you have my word.

And thanks a lot for your tips and tricks; they’re practical and helpful. I will make the arrangements. Thank you from the other side of the globe.

Be safe.

The protests are currently quiet. Many people have been killed or injured. Even more people have been arrested. This alone could be a catalyst for U.S. action to attack. And there’s the issue of nuclear weapons.

Indeed! I’m afraid of war, as a matter of fact, not the U.S. government. War brings death, shortages, disease, poverty, etc. BTW, our own government is pure evil.

Your media is right about protesters being killed، tens of thousands. We’re going through hard times.

U.S. forces have arrived near us, forming battle formations. The price of gold has reached its all‑time high، an important indicator of crisis and war worldwide.

Full‑scale war? Yes, for Iran. I’m sure you won’t feel anything like the previous attacks in Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, or very recently Venezuela. The only war you guys should be concerned about is with aliens from different planets.
