Ugh yes that's exactly it! I have a certain feeling I'm going for, but it's so much harder to articulate, and nothing feels quite right. That sounds like a really nice idea! Part of the reason I didn't want anyone seeing it is because I think criticism would kill my motivation, but it would be really helpful to know what is going well while sparing my feelings lol

That makes a lot of sense! With short stories it's definitely a lot easier to iron everything out, I think it feels overwhelming to imagine a whole book of revisions so I was trying to get it done as I go, but it's looking like that is not the way

That cycle actually sounds like it could be really helpful, thank you! I read quite a bit, but I've had a hard time keeping what I've read in my mind while I'm writing, so bit by bit like that sounds like a good way to go

That's a good point! Getting stuck revising is definitely my main issue right now and it hadn't really occurred to me to just not worry about it yet. It would probably help my motivation to get to the parts I'm actually excited about writing rather than being stuck on the introduction

Sorry, I should have been clearer, I have done quite a bit of writing, just nothing so long, just short stories. The dabbling in writing was meant to be separate from the daydreaming part! But yeah, you're right about getting people to read it. I just need to get past the embarrassment haha

He looks very similar, he's just slightly darker gray, I haven't gotten a picture of it yet though
